Top Ten Video Games of All Time (for Men)

01. Elite 1984 Firebird)

This was without a doubt the most addictive space-trading game ever created. We all played the version for the Commodore C-64 but it was released on a bunch of systems in the 80's and into the 90's and it very well may be the greatest video game ever made. Yeah, that takes some explaining.

Elite was a ray-trace game so it made use of your imagination as well as your eyes -- glowing lines in shapes of ships, planets, space stations, and the like -- and you started out a lowly trader in your Cobra Merchant Vessel, and you clawed your way to the top by carrying goods from system to system, learning how to match the rotation of the station so you could dock your ship and trade -- at least until you could afford a docking computer -- and fighting off space pirates who lurk in deep space waiting for traders!

The game world (universes) seemed endless -- and when you stop to think that this was a game on a single floppy disc that was played on a computer that had a whopping total of 64K in RAM, the fact that we all had treasured memories of it and agreed that it was both a genre-creator and perhaps the best game in the world well, that says something.

And in case you are thinking, well, they are old farts, I must point out that all of the 'old farts' have Gamer Scores on Live that are higher than 125K, do you?
