Start

The game's main menu. Accessed by starting the game. Several choices are included here for starting new games, continue game, etc.

Suitcase

By tapping Y or down on the upper-right end of the Touch Screen, the Suitcase will be the first menu that pops up among the several menus listed for the game. This menu is basically your inventory for the whole game. The suitcase can carry 15 items, 10 letters and 99,999 bells. Here is where you can place your items in the available slots. You can drag items to your character pic to equip that particular item. To unequip items, simply tap your character pic. You can also drop unwanted items by dragging them down to the ground below where your character is standing. By tapping the bell bag symbol you can withdraw bells and you can even specify the amount that you want. Overall, you can hold up to 26 items, which includes the letter slots if you put items on them as well.

Pencil

This is where you can pull up the custom designs you have made at the Able Sisters' Shop. It carries a maximum of 8 designs at a time. You can drag a design to the lower left area on the Suitcase to assign it as your background. Take note though, that doing this will occupy one available inventory slot as the design is considered as an item itself.

Fish

Provides general info about the Fishes that you have caught. A newly caught fish will be updated on this list in real-time as soon as you catch it. To view details for a fish such as name, size, seasons, or habitat, simply tap the symbol for that fish.

Bug

Similar to the Fish menu, except that it provides information for Bugs instead.

Message/ Keyboard

This is the in-game keyboard that you use to write letters. You will need this menu to communicate and create messages for other players to view when they come to visit. Sometime during your game, you will acquire expressions. You can see all the expressions you have acquired here, and you can select each expression to make your character act it out as a means of communication.

Town Map

Access the in-game map here. Shows your current location, building locations and bridge locations as well. You can tap a villager, house, building name or symbol to locate that particular item. Travelling to other towns makes those towns accessible on your map menu. Select any previously visited town's map by tapping X.

Friends

All the friends you have met through friend codes and Wi-Fi will be shown here. This menu gives you the options to register or remove your friends. It is advisable to register some friend codes in order to receive gifts from Nintendo.

Catalog

This menu is accessible from Tom Nook. It catalogs all the items you have encountered in your playthrough. The items are grouped as tabs and listed as furniture, wallpaper, carpets, clothing,

umbrellas, accessories, stationery, Gyroids, and Fossils. Take note however, not all items are sorted out here and some cannot even be purchased even if they are listed here. For a more detailed item list, refer to the Master Item List.
