You will be starting your Animal Crossing life officially from now on.

Your character will be a customer of Tom Nook's and you can transact business with him just like a regular client. Also you will have access to save your game.

To start off, shake off all the tress that you can. Usually they drop bags of bells and fruits, and if you're lucky they will drop pieces of furniture that you can use for your home. Now some of the trees will have beehives in them which will cause the bees to attack you when disturbed. Make sure you shake them off quick to avoid them. Sell all of the fruits to Tom afterwards.

Your first purchases should be the shovel, Fishing rod, and net. The shovel will be useful for hitting rocks in town which will aid you in looking for Fossils and the bell rock. For the net and the fishing rod, you can use these for hunting. Fossils and creatures can be sold or donated to the town museum. The beach can be useful for collecting shells. Since you are already selling items that you can find like shells, fossils, creatures, etc. to settle your debt; is also helpful to sell off some objects in your house that you know you can have better replacements in the future. Stuff like orange box, common wall, common floor, etc. can be sold now as you can get better items like this from your neighbors later.

Managing your storage space should be your foremost concern for your house. To increase the available space in your home, you have to pay off the mortgage, then talk to Tom Nook, which in turn will let you choose a new color for your roof as well. To save much needed storage space, you can try having another character who has a separate inventory or attaching items to letters, then store the letters in The Post Office.
