I don't have Xbox live and my friend put a black ops zombies map on a USB stick so I can play it in solo. But even when it's copied to my hard drive I don't get the call of the dead map? Why is this? Can someone please help

Yeah, the only way to play DLC/games from other xbox's is to obtain the purchase licenses of that game in other words you can't play any game your friend gives you unless your using his profile which is where the licenses are originally stored. (his/her profile data.)
Since your going to be offline at all times I suggest you get permission to recover his profile to your xbox then disconnect your xbox from any online connection. (remove the either cable or deactivate your wireless auto detection on your xbox etc...) just remove all means to go online on your xbox and sign in to his profile and play the games he gave you.
(p.s when you recover his profile download the games and DLC you need while you still got his profile. There for it'll work even if you already got the games re download them as his profile. Or else it won't work.) and again you can't be online in anyway or else when he signs in at his house it'll knock him offline. (only do this with someone you really trust.)
