I took Denise out to the bar not far from her house (she wanted dinner) and after the date and I got her back to her house, there was no red circle (I ended up shutting off Xbox)

I think it might have been a glitch.
Try it again, and if it still has no red ring, park the car outside her house anyway, and see what happens.

Probably a glitch, it's never happend to me with Denise, but is did happen to me with Barbra, and I just drove around the block and went back to her house. This game has alot of glitches.
