How To Disable Control Panel

If you have a shared computer that your family and friends can access, you might not want them to mess around in the Control Panel. This is how you can disable it.

Note:For some reason if you have a shared computer that anyone can access, this can avoid changing of various settings of your computer system.

What to do



  1. Press the Windows + R key combination to open run box and type gpedit.msc and hit enter key.

  2. Guide Image

  3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer then right-click in the right pane and create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  5. Name the value Disable Control Panel. Then right-click on the new Value and click Modify.

  6. Guide Image

  7. Change the value to 1 then click OK. Close out of Registry Editor and restart the machine to complete the process.

    If a user tries to access it they will get the following message indicating it is restricted
