How to Turn Your Laptop into a Wireless Access Point

Everybody's got a wireless network at home, but if you've ever wanted to get your iPod touch, iPhone, or other wireless device connected, but all you've got is a wired network at work, school, or everywhere.if your laptop is connected to the wired network, your wireless card should be free, and we can use it to allow access to the internet. Here's how you can share your wireless network.

What to do:


  1. Press the Windows + R key combination to open run box, type ncpa.cpl and hit Enter.

  3. When your network connections open right-click on your Wireless network adapter and select Properties.

  5. Click Sharing tab and allow other devices to use your machines internet by selecting the first checkbox and then uncheck the second before clicking on the OK button.

  7. Open CMD run as administrator.

    You need to do is set up the wireless network, this is done using the netsh command.
    Type netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="Free Wifi" key="P@ssw0rd"
    ssid is the name of your access point.
    key is the password of your access point.

    This is ready to start broadcasting your network.
  9. Type netsh wlan start hostednetwork

  10. Guide Image

    You can now connect to your laptop.
  11. Type netsh wlan show hostednetwork

  12. It will show you the channel you are on as well as the number of clients connected to your network.

    If you want to Turn off your wifi type wlan stop hostednetwork
