How much does it cost to build the Sim Town Sign?
I heard that the Sim Town Sign costs a lot of Lifestyle Points to build. I thought this was weird though, because in the Mystery Island Update, you only use LP if you want to buy a resource, but the building of a monument is free. Does this apply for the sign as well, or does it cost a lot to BUILD alone?

Yeah it is not meant to work that way.
Basically you need to collect the resources to build it, and to do that you need to collect the three different resources. You do that by having your Teen Idol sim either redo the last three lines of the Hobby (well really all of the lines) to repeat the collections as the three resources are obtained from the last three lines of that collection.
Alternatively you will also find that the teen you did the Teen Idol Quest with also gains these resources randomly from doing regular tasks, so bonus!
