It means that there are ghosts in the house.
So you can hunt them by selecting the spooky Items and clicking hunt for ghosts.

Some furniture is haunted. There is a symbol of a ghost next to the haunted furniture and scary music plays when you buy one that's haunted. Click on said haunted furniture and there will be an option to hunt for ghosts. Ghosthunting is a Hobby and you will be able to earn money and LPs by competing and collecting different ghosts.
