No you can't, but the career level will be stagnant. You won't get experience points and simoleans.

No you can't get fired but you can quit and start a new job. The down side is you go back to the entry level position

You cannot get fired from a job. The only way not to work the certain occupation you have started is to a. Quit or b. Start a new job.

I don't think so, because my sim didn't go to work because she was watching a marathon for a goal and she never got fired.

YES you CAN! I did it myself. First click the envelope. Then click on the jobs. Click on the job picture for whoever som you want fired. Then click "get a job" and choose their new job!
