Your preteen's gender is determined by the gender it is when it was a baby. So if you made a baby boy, the preteen will still be a boy. And he keeps his same name, he's just grown up a bit.

Guest answered:

I don't think it's determined by which gender you choose as I had 2 baby girls which are now preteens and both only have the option of boys clothes and hair etc - on the first update to preteen I assumed I had accidentally put the gender in wrong when creating the baby but now I believe this is a fault as I know for sure the second preteen was deffinately a baby girl!

Perhaps your preteen is gay? That's life. You should have had the option to choose the a name, gender, eyes, hair and etc before it manifested into a sim. Once you click save, it's done. You get what is either given by default, or what you have chosen.

Jackie1 answered:

No, there are no "gay" (or rather transgendered)
Preteens. I believe you either have a glitches or something must have glitched after you updated.

You can chose everything for the baby sim when it is being born; you chose the name, gender, eye colour, clothes! I have a preteen sim AND a baby. The preteen is a girl and can wear dresses and the baby is a boy. I haven't found any faults so it's not my problem. 💃

I was gutted when my girl toddler grew up to be a boy preteen. Now my boy preteen is called Jennifer.

Guest answered:

It starts when they were baby's but I have had the same problem AFTER the new update, I think it's BECAUSE of the update that this is happening because I was fine before it

Guest answered:

Well I think that maybe you should just give the Sim a transgender name at the start just in case. Like Jessie, Alex, Carter something like that so if it was a girl it wouldn't be named Joshua and a boy wouldn't be named Andrea

Guest answered:

There is a good reason to give your Sims unisex names if they become girl to boy or boy to girl
I have a baby boy called blue and a baby boy called Raven

Unisex names.life savers
