No it well just stay like a baby.
But you never know If it will.

I think it stays like a baby for about 3 days and then it becomes a shield and stays like that forever it's only on Sims generation that sims actually change ... (I think)

If you're talking about Sims Generations for PC, then no, Children could grow up way before Generations (at the Pc version base game in fact)
