Nope. You can lock them in an empty room with no doors for weeks and they just get really depressed.

The one above isn't actually dieing it's just deleting your sim but close enough for some

Factually my friend told me that her toddler was scared to death by ghosts from the ghost hunting thing. I'm not sure if this can happen.
