No, To get Mew you must download the ticket to her island called FarAway Island and you can ONLY get her in EMERALD.

I don't think you need to have emerald to get Mew, but you do need to go to a nintendo event w/ a wireless adaptor (or ds) and download the mystic (?) ticket to get to far away island (?). Also, you can download the eon ticket to get to something-rock to get hoho.

ARG! You all are making me ill! Not you questioner, you are the victim! Everyone else is getting me annoyed though with these half baked answers(or maybe FULLY Baked when answering?)and pure BS!
Whoever told you that crap is full of it, and there's a lot of ways to get Mew-but that's not one of them! Did you get this off of this site? If so, then let me or a moderator or someone know-I'm so sick of these wrong answers and misinformation and am trying to stop it but all these "know-it-alls" just keep posting crap! I just spent over an hour or more telling you this, but it got erased and I don't have the patience to do it again. Basically, all the answers were pretty off-you can get Mew in any game if you know how, and I have legal ones, shiny ones, and not so legal ones and they will ALL trade also if you know what you're doing-if you just use a encounter code then that's why you can't trade him, but there are ways to get around that, too! You can get a Mew if you just go get an AR Max Duo-the code is in there for FR, it would take only minutes, but he won't be legal & probably won't trade like blastoiselover100's Mew won't! A better idea is to try to get a legal one-but there's a lot of ways to do that-including me putting one into your game-but I'm not about to redo it all-find me if you want more info-I'm usually answering in PMD:BRT, but if you want to find me just post another question, and you can even put my name (BBG_CREECAT) on it asking for input from me, I'll try to look out for it, I feel we owe you that much after the stupidity you got instead of good answers!
As far as you mr_wulfgar, you are so misinformed that I think you should stay away from answering questions and try asking some, and I'm a bigger smart@ss than you, trust me, you are new here, so stepping on toes and trying to act like you're the smart part rather than the rest won't win you any friends or kudos or rank if that's your mission-I could disappear for a year and you'd still be an ant when I returned, and all that Kudos crap means nothing to me really-I'm here to help and you're here for what exactly? You've obviously never been to an event from what you said as that's not how it works at all(a DS? Please, no DS's or wireless stuff allowed-it would be a huge mess if you stop for 10 seconds to think about it, but since you have no experience with events you outed your self as a fool! Even tickets are not available when you want them-you're lucky to get anything at all now as the tickets were done in 2004 and 2005, and your ticket info is totally incorrect as far as what brings you where. Never mind your crap about the Eon ticket which was NEVER a download-R/S didn't have the capability-it was a ticket you got at Pokemon Center in NYC, or through Nintendo Power magazine, and you needed an e-reader to scan it in, but no one cares as you can get it by trading records with anyone who has it, and it doesn't bring you to Ho-Oh (and Lugia-to show how little you know as they're on the same island, that "some rock" you mentioned the Eon ticket would bring you to, which is WRONG!), but rather to Southern island to get the Lat you didn't find in Hoenn! There is no possible way you can get a ticket downloaded from Nintendo that will bring you to Mew on Faraway Island-it's not even a ticket, it's an Old Sea Chart, and Nintendo has NOT distributed it yet, and may never as they gave away Mews at every Toys R Us in the country in September! WE know about the island, but no one has ever gotten the REAL thing to get there-we all just cheat to get them and the others b/c Pokemon Events for those Tickets were so far away and only 4 or 5 days each tour (so almost no one got the real tickets and they don't redo them ever!) the closest ones to me were well over 1000 miles away! For a few hour event where all you really do is stand on lines all day! Get your facts even close to straight and maybe then think about answering, but until then please stop spreding lies, misinformation, and pure conjecture, as I don't have time to answer real questions and fix everyone's stupid rumors and get the truth out there when I have constant interference by people who get their facts all messed up, then another person believes you as they don't know better or who knows what here-they came here for help or did you forget that? So then they begin to try and circulate the rumors trying to get them to work or figure them out, and it gets way out of hand all because someone couldn't just keep their trap shut when they know nothing useful or even remotely truthful. Please, if you want to help, don't help until you know your stuff a lot better-go hang out in the forums-maybe you'll learn something! But you're sure not helping this way! It is possible to get Mew. But only through trading or a cheat. Believe me I have already went back to the spot I caught mewtwo at and there was no mew. And thats after beating the elite four at least 30 times. I got mew's data by getting it through a trade.
