How to Defeat the Final Boss (Edric) in Act 1

Edric is the final boss of Act 1, he is also one of the toughest bosses to defeat in Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. This giant armoured boss has three distinct phasess, the first two are quite damaging while the third one is deadly. Before the Battle

Before you attempt to tackle this boss it is advised that you double up on healing potions as you only get three lives and you will likely need them to stay alive while battling with this dangerous boss. Also try to ignore ignore mobs when possible and just focus on dealing damage to Edric himself.

Phase One

The first phase in the battle with Edric is relatively easy compared to the two that follow. In this phase Edric will charge at you with his shield which he will use to deal damage by hitting you with it. He will also put up an inpenetrable shield of light which he will stay behind and repeatedly fire a salvo of three bullets. Edric's charge attack you simply need to dodge by using an aerial ability, after which you just focus on avoiding his bullets. If all three bullets connect you will lose a big chunk of your health. If you manage to break his defenses and stun him by wearing down the blue bar underneath his health Edric will become enraged and do significantly more damage should you get hit therefore you should simply focus on keeping away from his attacks.

Phase Two

When you enter phase two of the battle Edric will begin to start launching grenades with his sword which you will be able to dodge easily. He will now also start charge attacking you like before with his shield but this time with his sword drawn. Be aware when he fans his blade in a 180 degree arc as this will launch a cluster of bullets outward which you shouldn't have too much of a problem avoiding. The attack you need to be looking out for is Edric's ultimate which is when he fires grenades in a 360 degree arc in four different 90 degree chunks: left, right, front, and back. These blow up in three distinct arcs from closest to him to furthest. When Edric unleashes this attack you need to either move into a zone that has already exploded or dodge out of the way to avoid the damage. During this phase of the battle you need to try and keep him at the bottom half of the map where he has little room to maneuver. You will find Edrics charges easier to dodge the closer you are to him, you just need to make sure you move away from him before he attacks with his ultimate.

Phase Three

This is the hardest phase of the battle and you must avoid taking damage at all costs as many of Edric's attacks will now instantly kill you if they connect. His primary attacks are a 360 degree sword swing and a jump attack which ends with him slamming into the ground and sending an 'X' of damage outwards in flame. Eventually in this phase Edric will jump to the center of the platform and put up a ring of shields and start charging his most powerful move. Make sure before you start focussing on dodging you get off an aerial AOE attack. While Edric is charging several circle indicators will begin to form around the map, you need to make sure you are not within these when they explode. Ignore the ghosts, they do not do enough damage to kill you. Once these explosions finish, Edric will unleash a ring of fire which expands outwards that can instantly kill you. To get away from it either dodge inward or walk towards Edric. During this phase of the battle you should try and stay away from Edric as much as possible as he tends not to attack when you are out of melee range. Timing your counter attacks is important, if you can stun Edric while he is the middle of charging his ultimate you will stop the process and will avoid the deadly ring of fire.
