West of Dead Walkthrough and Guide

West of Dead is a top-down twin-stick fast paced shooter game set in the gritty wild west of Purgatory, Wyoming, 1888. You step into the boots of the dead man William Mason, and descend into the grim and gritty world of Purgatory where you need to outgun your enemies in the unknown procedurally generated hunting grounds. Skip Character Dialogue

If you are playing West of Dead on PC and you want to get straight to the action you can skip the dialogue/monologue of any of the characters by tapping the 'Esc' button, then pressing it again to return to the game. If you are playing the game on Xbox One or PS4 you can press the B button on your controller.

How to get Sin Points

Sin Points in West of Dead are random drops from killed enemies. They are the larger white orbs that can only be redeemed when you complete that area.

Kick the Enemy

Except for the bosses you can kick any any enemy in West of Dead to deal them a few damage points. Make sure you remember this melee attack when you have run out of ammo and you are within striking distance of the enemy.

Reloading

When you fire one gun it will prevent you from loading the second, it is therefore important that you factor this in during a gunfight by not wasting shots as doing so can leave you vulnerable while you wait to reload.

Slide to Cover

If you are playing West of Dead on the PC you will be able to slide to cover from some distance by pressing the 'space' bar on your keyboard.

How to Shoot Enemies in the Dark

To shoot enemies in the dark you need to light up the area by hitting lanterns. If you do not, and you are expecting to hit targets in the dark, you won't succeed. You can only lock onto characters and have a high percentage of hitting them if you have exposed them in their area with light.

How to get through Mines

You must roll in order to traverse the mines which are covered in the yellow stuff that damages you. If you time your roll right you will not take any damage. There are parts of mines that are blocked off by the yellow stuff and you will have no alternative but to roll over it to progress.

How to get through the Steel Barrier in The Hunt

Once you have the rune that makes your melee attacks twice as strong, and much louder, you will be able to get through the steel barrier in The Hunt.

How to Fast Travel

After you kill Wendigo in The Hunt you will unlock the teleport rune which will then give you the ability to fast travel to each of the circles that light up green when you step on them.

How to Defeat Injustice

To defeat the boss Injustice you must avoid his fire attacks. Simply take cover, the cover will block all the fire balls and break on the final one. You won’t get burned and won’t take any damage. Check out our How to Defeat Injustice guide to get more details.
