V Rising Beginner Tips and Tricks

Listed below are several Beginner Tips and Tricks which will help you in V Rising.

Choose the Right Server
The first thing you will be asked when you start a game in V Rising is to choose a server type, and it is important that you understand the difference between them so you play on the right one. All the servers are divided into PvE and PvP and the difference is that in PvE servers you can't attack other players, or damage or steal their possessions, while in PvP you are able to attack other players, and raid their castles during certain times of the day. There are other settings you also need to take into consideration when selecting a Server, these include things like how much of your equipment you will lose upon dying and how many resources you will get from gathering and mining. Make sure you check out the full list of servers available to find one that fits your needs.

Don't get Exposed to Sunlight
According to Vampiric lore sunlight exposure is deadly to vampires and in V Rising it the most common cause of death. This means that during the day you need to remain in the shadows at all times. Keep in mind that the sun moves, this will cause the shadows to move over time. It is therefore important that you pay attention to where the sun is if you plan on stepping away from your keyboard for a period of time. If you do have to step out into the sunlight for whatever reason, you will have a short time before you start taking massive damage. There are visual warning signs that tell you when this is about to happen, these include an orange fiery spark effect that begins to emanate from your character, a ray of light appears from the sky shining down towards your character, and the screen begins to grow brighter over time. You will also be given a sound effect warning that will get louder over time.

Where to Build your Castle
Where you decide to build your castle in V Rising is important as it can affect how successful you are in the game. It is therefore recommended that you spend a fair bit of time searching for an ideal location to construct it at the starting region of the Farbane Woods. You will not be able to just build anywhere, you will first have to place down a Castle Heart, which lays claim to the surrounding area. When searching for a location to build your castle it is recommended that you search for elevated areas as the natural ramps provide chokepoints for defending against attacks. Make sure that there are key resource-gathering areas, and you are also near to a Waygate so you can easily fast travel from point to point.

Use Blood Types to your Advantage
In V Rising there are different blood types, each having its own effects and quality. When you feed on an enemy your blood type changes, and you will adopt some abilities of the foe you fed upon. This will increase different stats of your character enabling them to benefit in various ways. Each blood type is perfect for different situations, and it is important that you understand how it can benefit you. Take a look at our Blood Type Guide to find out how you can use blood to your advantage.

Prepare for Major Fights
The V Rising map is collectively referred to as Vardoran and is split into five separate areas: Farbane Woods, Dunley Farmlands, Silverlight Hills, Cursed Forests and Hallowed Mountains. Each of these areas are dangerous places and unless you come prepared you will find yourself being overwhelmed by the creatures that inhabit them. It is therefore important when you venture into these areas that you bring the right tools and items with you. An early consumable item which it is recommended that you stack up on regardless of the area you plan on entering is Vermin Salve, which can heal you over time without you having to resort to using up your blood reserves. You should also try and plan to fight tough battles during the night, so you can fight effectively without having to worry about staying out of the sunlight.

Aways Check your Map
There is no procedurally generated terrain in V Rising which means the map is always the same, and you will be able to learn the regions as you might learn a map in a traditional MMO. In each of the five different areas of Vardoran there are places of interest scattered throughout the region, and you can hover over them in the map to view exactly what these areas are and more importantly it tells you what items or materials you will be able to find there.
