One of my sims died unexpectedly yesterday in my Sims 2 game. Everyone keeps stopping to mourn over it. They are having difficulty getting anything else accomplished. The mourning has gone on "long enough"; considering how fast time moves in this game. The game tells me to click on the urn and select smash, and the Sim will feel better? I click on the urn the only selection I get is "mourn". Which is what they don't need. How do I get rid of it, they can get on with their lives. I can't even pick it up or delete it?

What you should do is go into the buy mode and select the tomb, then press delete to sell it and you will get rid of it along with some extra cash.
If you smash the urn, then the dead sim will never be a ghost and can never be brought back to life. It will be as if the sim never existed. You can put the urn outside and it will turn into a gravestone. Place a fence around the gravestone and no one will be able to enter for mourning. If you have expansion packs then you can move the urn/gravestone to a community lot graveyard.
