I bought a new laptop with Windows Vista on it and I've always used Windows XP. After installing The Sims 2 on the new computer, everything works perfectly until I try to bring up the cheat window. Keep in mind, I've been playing this game for the past 3 years, I played the original game and all of the expansions for years, so I know I'm supposed to hit ctrl + shift + c all at once. I've tried hitting alt in place of ctrl and there's still nothing. Is there any other way to get the cheat window to come up? Or should I just take Vista off the computer and upload XP?

Best way for me is to hit ctrl and shift at the same time first, then hitting the c button.
*erm* VISTA SUCKS :D
Now that that is out of the way, I'm not sure if your having a "physical" problem with pushing the buttons? But they don't all have to be pushed at once, just held, e.g Push Control, then Push Alt (without taking your finger off either of them) push C. If the problem isn't that, and the window just doesn't come up then try reinstalling The Sims 2. Its not vista that is the problem, because I can open the cheat window on my Sims 2.
Well, I also have Windows Vista, and it works fine for me. Are you pusing the right buttons? (control+shift+c). And there's also two control buttons and two shift buttons on the keyboard (usually), depending on which ones you're using, that may be an issue. Other than that, I'll have to agree with "gamefreakgabe".
You may have ti try re-installing the game.
PS: My Windows Vista is on an actual computer, maybe the laptop is the problem
Hope this helps, keep trying!!
The same thing is happening to me and I did re-installed the game but it still doesn't work. If someone could help me FASTTTT I would really appreciate it!
Actually, I'm pretty sure Vista is the problem. Vista is a very problematic OS hence the reason so many people dislike it. I actually can't open the cheat menu either, and I also just bought a new laptop with Vista.
Hope you've found the answer already, but if not, this is what helped me. Go to the start menu, search for HP Health Check, right click and go to properties, click the short cut tab, and then go down to the short cut window. The short cut for this program is also ctrl+shift+c, so just change it and your cheats window should work fine.
Thanks so so much Kerrough22 I did that and it worked..thanksssssssssssss
Thanks Kerrough22. I also have an HP Laptop and the Sims2 cheat window didn't work. I tried your method and everything is sorted. Thanks - would never have worked it out otherwise.
