New World Cheats and Tips

PC
Last Updated: by Dennis

New World is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that is set in the mid-seventeeth century. Explore a beautiful open world as you move through the wilderness and ruins of the island of Aeternum. Join forces with other players to form powerful companies of craftspeople, soldiers, and strategists. New World is exclusively available on PC. Take a look at our tips to get help in the game.

New World Cheats, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include how to find resources using the map and compass and how to complete quests efficiently. As well as these hints and tips, we also have a beginners guide here which goes into more details on some of the tips we have below:

Keep Eating Rations

In New World it is essential that you are constantly eating as doing so will activate your health regen. Also, by eating rations, you will be providing your character with benefits such as mana regen or increased movement speed. Although you can get potions to replenish your health, it is far easier to craft rations which provide a passive regen over time which is useful both in and out of combat. Take a look at our How to Change your Starter Zone guide to find out how you can join your friends online and play New World together.

Manage Your Weight

It is crucial that you manage your weight proficiently in New World, as it will affect how your character fights in battle. If your character's weight is too heavy, their ability to dodge blows will suffer. Don't wear your shield if you don't plan on using it, as this will only add extra weight to your character and push them into a heavier weight category.

Set Up Camps for Respawns

Always remember to regularly set up a camp. When you do this in New World, it will not only allow your character to regain health and cook meals, it will also act as a respawn location if they die. To set up a camp, you simply have to press the 'Y' button on your keyboard. If you don't set up camps you will find yourself wasting time traversing back and forth from the nearest settlement or fort whenever you die.

Find Resources Using the Map and Compass

Use your map whenever you are struggling to find a specific resource. The map will show you the various types of terrain that contain certain resources. Just head to the location of the resource you want and then pull out your compass to see the different resource icons in the area.

Complete Quests Efficiently

Before you leave a settlement make sure you remember to pick up all the faction quests, town projects, and side missions. You will find that you will naturally complete a lot of the faction quests and town projects passively while you are finishing your side or main quests. Take a look at our How to Level Up your Territory Standing Fast to find out how you can quickly increase your reputation in New World.

Salvage Useless Items for Repair Parts and Crafting Materials

There is not a vendor in New World that you can sell the useless items you collect. What you need to do instead is salvage all the items you don't need. Not only will doing this help clear your inventory it will also give you repair parts and materials that you can use for crafting. These repair parts can be used to repair weapons and broken gear and will become incredibly valuable during the game.

Sell Items at the Trading Post

Although there is not a general store vendor in New World where you can get rid of your junk, there is a Trading Post which acts as an auction house where you can list the items in your inventory you want to sell. These are not linked, so you need to make sure if you want your items to sell you list them in a high traffic area rather than a settlement which has very little traffic.

Find Storage Locations

Storage Sheds in New World are basically the banking system of the game, and you will be able to find them in each settlement. They were initially not shared, so you needed to remember where you stored all your stuff. The developers of the game have now changed this, and you can now link your storage, providing both settlements are controlled by the same faction. You can find these storage locations by opening up the map and pressing the 'M' key on your keyboard and scrolling in on a settlement until you can see the icons. The Storage Shed icon is noted by a box or chest icon on the map. Take a look at our How to Increase Inventory Space guide to find out how to get more space for the items you gather in New World.
