How to Unlock Followers in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak introduces a new feature to the series called Followers which basically if you are playing alone enables you to recruit AI characters to hunt alongside you in Follower Collab Quests. Take a look at our How to Unlock Followers guide if you do not have friends to play with or just want to hunt alongside NPCs.

As you progress through Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak you will be given the option to take on Follower Collab Quests. These are basically missions that involve hunting alongside AI companions known as Followers. You will not be able to team up with Followers to begin with, in order to do so you must first complete the Master Rank 2 Urent Quest: Scarlet Tengu in the Shrine Ruins. In this quest you will be tasked with hunting and taking down a Blood Orange Bishaten alongside Dame Fiorayne who will become your first Follower, she specializes in the Sword and Shield.

Once you manage to complete the Master Rank 2 Urent Quest: Scarlet Tengu in the Shrine Ruins you will be able to access Follower Collab Quests by talking to Chichae the Quest Damsel. In Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak there are two different types of Follower Collab Quests, these are Support Surveys and Follower Quests. Support Surveys are general hunts where you are given the option of choosing who you want to hunt with while Follower Quests you have to team up with a certain character. Keep in mind that some Followers will not be available for selection as allies in Support Survey Quests until you have completed enough of their Follower Quests.

Aside from talking to Chichae the Quest Damsel you can also acquire Follower Quests as you progress through Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak by finding Followers in Elgado and speaking with them. Completing Follower Quests is worthwhile as they tend to reward you with decent equipment which will come in useful, this includes new weapons and armor sets. Below is a list of the Follower characters and how you can unlock them:

Dame Fiorayne

Unlock her by completing the 'An Audience With The Queen - Hunt a Rathian' quest.

Dame Luchika

Unlock her by completing the 'Fruit Vs. Firearms - Hunt a Bishaten' quest.

Sir Jae

Unlock him by completing the 'White Knight Vs. New Knight - Hunt a Barioth' quest.

Dame Rondine

Unlock her by completing the 'Into The Jungle Deep - Hunt a Nargacuga' quest.

Master Arlow

Unlock him by completing the 'Moonlit Espinascapade - Hunt an Espinas' quest.

Master Utsushi

Unlock him by completing the 'Grabbin' Life By The Horns - Hunt a Rajang' quest.
