All the characters in Mario Strikers: Battle League can have their starting attributes significantly adjusted by customizing their gear. Take a look at our How to Unlock and Equip Gear guide to find out how you can acquire equipment for your characters to strengthen your team.
The currency used in Mario Strikers: Battle League is coins and the best way to earn it is to play through the 'Cup Battles' mode in the main menu. You begin Cup Battles on the 'Normal' difficulty and for every cup win you pick up you will get 500 coins. This means there is a possible 3,000 coins you can earn across six cups. When you complete Normal difficulty, new gear will become unlocked. You will also be able to play on 'Galactic' difficulty, which is a much tougher setting. For every cup won on the Galactic mode you will earn 1,000 coins. Mario Strikers: Battle League does not allow you to farm coins, if you replay the Normal difficulty cups over and over you will only get 50 coins each time and 100 coins for wins on Galactic mode. You can also earn coins by playing together with friends on the Strikers Club mode, but the amount of coins you will get is minimal.
New gear initially becomes available to purchase in Mario Strikers: Battle League by winning Cup Battles on the Normal difficulty setting. In Cup Battles you play through double elimination tournaments and try to become the champion in each until you have won the Championship Cup. At this point the only way you will now be able to unlock additional gear is by beating Cup Battles on the 'Galactic' difficulty. There are six different types of gear, each with different stats you can spend your coins on. Although there are only six sets of gear available you will be able to tweak and tailor the stats of characters to give you a unique team.
All the characters in Mario Strikers: Battle League start with the same purchasable gear, you will be able to buy items with the coins you earn to attach to your character's head, body, arms, and legs. You will also be able to customize them to adjust a character's strength, passing, and shooting technique. When you boost an attribute on a piece of gear it will mean sacrificing something else. This basically means you are just reassigning statistics instead of increasing them. Below is a list of all the pieces of gear (excluding Bushido) that you can get in Mario Strikers: Battle League.
