Don't Spam your Attacks

Although spamming your attacks as soon as they are off cooldown will probably get you through most of the early quests, it is something you should avoid doing. It is essential when you get further into the game that you know the intricacies of each skill in your hotbar, this means understanding things like which skills have a long cooldown, which ones take a long time to cast, and which ones can knock back enemies. Being fully aware of the capabilities of the skills you have at your disposal is the key to your success in Lost Ark.

Complete the Welcome Challenges

It is recommended that the first thing you do in Lost Ark is go through and complete the Welcome Challenges. This feature can be found in the top right of the screen, just to the left of the mini-map and consists of quick and mostly mundane tasks that will teach you about the various systems and mechanics in the game. Completing the tasks will earn you plenty of silver and save you being confused as to how things work later in the game.

Save Health Potions

Try to avoid using the instant HP recover potions and battle items that you are given in the early part of the game. Although you are given plenty of these invaluable and expensive items early on they become rarer as you proceed through Lost Ark, so be sure to save them up when you can.

Activate Triports

Keep in mind the world of Arkesia is vast, and you will be doing a lot of travelling as you make your way through Lost Ark. It is therefore important that you get into the habit of activating every Triport that you come across as using these to fast travel is the best way to navigate large distances, it will also save you plenty of time as you level through the game. Triports do not activate by being near them, you have to physically interact with them before they become usable.

Complete Side Quests

The best way to level up your character in Lost Ark is to focus on doing the Main Quest. Every so often along the way in order to not encounter an overpowered boss that halts progress it is recommended that you pick up a few Side Quests so that you can earn some easy XP and useful gear to make the battle easier.

Don't Worry about Gear

There is no need to worry about gear in Lost Ark until you reach the endgame. The drop rates of gear in the game are generous and if you tackle a Side Quest every so often being under-geared will not be an issue and it will help you to save money in the process as gear expenses can quickly add up.

Claim your Rewards

There are two different leveling systems in Lost Ark - Combat Level and Roster Level. Combat Level is limited to your current character while Roster Level carries to all the characters you have on your account. It is important to remember that improving your Roster Level will sometimes reward you with permanent stat boosts and these you will need to manually claim from the Roster Menu. The game will notify you whenever you hit a new Roster Level and these rewards have become available to claim.

Unlock the Stronghold

In Lost Ark your Stronghold acts as your home base which you can return to when not on active missions. At your Stronghold you will be able to craft items like weapons and potions, and complete small side activities that renew daily. To unlock your Stronghold you will need to be leveled up to somewhere between level 20 and level 30 and completed the Clerk Theo's Invitation quest which will become available around level 25. Once you meet these requirements you need to talk to the Royal Receptionist outside the Castle and complete the required actions until the Stronghold unlocks. It is essential that you unlock the Stronghold as it will give you the ability to reach new recipes and train other characters on your account.
