Can you delete a whole room?

To delete a room, start by tapping on the circle icon with the chair and lamp. Once there, tap the build mode (house icon on the lower left). Next, tap the room you want to delete. A pop-up over the room will have a red circle. Tap that to delete the room or the X if you've changed your mind. Be careful, though, if you delete a room, everything in it will be deleted, as well, so move or put in inventory everything you want to keep.

Press the chair and lamp button at the bottom of the screen, then press the house button when your in th store, tap on a room, and then a tick and red simelones button will pop up, press the red button and then press yes, hope this helps

I the Sony Z tablet, double tap on the room and you'll get the option tomremove room and place all Items in inventory.
This took me weeks of mucking about and it happened by accident!

There isn't any house icon, I don't know what they're talking about. But if you have an apple device and would like to delete a room first look to the bottom right of your screen and click the icon with the chair & lamp which is between the globe and town icons. Once you click that you'll open up the home store, click the little orange button with a square and arrows at the bottom left, you don't have to scroll anywhere. Then just double click on the room you want to delete and click the red button. If you have a 2nd or 3rd story house and you're deleting a room under it, you'll have to delete the rooms on top first. . Hope this helps

Simple explanation:however you get into home edit, (how you move around chairs and furniture and such) get into it, then tap or doubble tap a room (try both) and there will be a green sign and a red one, much like what happens when you try to move furniture. To delete the room, click the red one. To delete a house, there can not be people living in it. Go to The Town Map, click the empty home you wish to demolish, and there will be several options. Click the one that says something along the lines of Delete House.

I encountered this issue that if the room is too small it cannot be deleted. I had made it too small because I made a room next to it bigger, I ended up with a room that's only one square in height but maybe 5 squares in width. I had tried double tapping, tried exiting and reentering the game, until I played around with the room thinking maybe to use it for something else and I made it bigger and the red X icon showed up after I made it bigger and I was able to delete it.

Tapping on the red X icon on a room deletes the room and sends all Items to inventory.

Well, it seems that Guest has answered the first part, so I will go ahead and answer the second part:
Only food you make under the "Cooking" tab on a stove, microwave, toaster, fridge, etc. Can be put on a table, which your Sim will do automatically once it is done making it. You cannot choose, however, where you put the food. Once you want to eat it, click on the food (the stack of plates with the food visual on it) and select "Grab a Plate" (to just grab on for the selected Sim) or "Call to Meal" (to have all Sims in the house grab a plate). Thereafter, the Sim(s) will either sit at a table or stand somewhere (depending if there is space and the table). You cannot put things grown in the garden or things made under the "Baking" tab on the stove on the table. You can only earch Simoleons from those Items.
