My game is stuck in the "connecting to store" screen and won't do anything else. I tried shutting down the iPad and turning off my wifi. What else can I do?

You can press cancel, or double tap the home button, then hold down on one of the apps that pops up, until they wiggle, then press the black X on top of the Sims app. That shows you which apps are still active, and allows you to turn them off. Then just try opening the app again. If that doesn't work, upload your save progress to the cloud and then delete the app and re-install it, then download your save from the cloud.
I just had this problem, on an Android tablet. If you turn your tablet off - fully off, not a restart, but a shut down - and then start it up again, you can then get back into the game. Hope that helps someone!
