Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Guide and Walkthrough

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Walkthrough and Guide

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is the successor to the hugely popular original. While developed by a different team, the ethos behind the game is much the same. One shot can kill you, and, if on the higher difficulties, it will send you all the way back to the start of what may have been a one-hour-plus length mission. Codemasters' game features a large map, Skira, and tons of vehicles and weaponry to use in accomplishing your objectives. It also boasts a full co-operative mode and adversarial multiplayer.

This guide offers a full walkthrough of every level in the game, complete with a list of all the achievements and trophies and details on how to get them. It also provides an 'Extras' section for each mission, which gives you ideas on alternative ways to play each level, as well as providing vehicle and special weapon locations if they can alter your way of playing.

What I do with this game is what I learned from army infantry training, it's extremely hard to complete a mission because the AIs must read field regs 24/7 or something. But others are right, cover is your best offensive. For rescuing pilots, command your squad "defensive, fall back, and send them to a safe area while providing cover fire" it's called leapfrog where you slowly send your squad 100m out or so, cover, have them fire on targets shooting at you while your run to them, repeat over and over. Always use semi auto, and if you have an LMG short controlled bursts to get the enemy to cover while your squad flanks. If anyone really wants to, look up FM 3-21.12 army infantry. Or look for a "platoon and squad level infantry FM (field Manuel) it can show you formations and combat tactics you can apply to this game and they work. If anyone here has seen combat, DONT play this game while your drinking. I hope this helps y'all out.

Right guys I've been playing this game and not died once. The general rule of thumb for games like this is 'COVER'. Doesn't matter where you are stay out of the open. On missions when choosing a fast truck or humping it around I hump around, why? Because I can stay in the trees and move wherever I want.
So stick to cover, whether it's behind a tree, wall, barrel or rock hug it and set your team to free fire.

In general I follow Knox's ten rules of war from Red River and they apply here as much as they do to real war. Read up on them and they should really help. If not get Red River, it's been dumbed down a lot from Dragon Rising. Then after a short while playing that move back to Dragon Rising, it's what I did and I don't have any real problem anymore.

But remember stay in cover otherwise you'll get your melon head shot!!

People are making this game too complicated then it already is. The key too beating these missions is to support your friendly forces as much as possible it even says this in the hints they give you during the loading screens your allies are key too survival and completing the mission

there is a simple way to do this. I was stuck for ages.

when the mission starts run in the direction you are looking. there is a big anti aircraft truck between you and where the helicopter lands - slightly to your left behind the bushes. (check your map)

If you set your team up to defend the bunker where you start, with one of them on the gun. Then go and get the truck and bring it back. Then get in the truck's gun and get the right ammo. then you can kill everyone nice and easy. I parked it on the road slightly behind the bunker getting some cover from the buildings.

Tht level is difficult bt not impossible to complete. All you have to do is make a strategy and put ur squad at right place.Put one of ur squad member on Machine gun position, send remaining to on the left side of the Machine gun in the woods. You take the right side.Dont forget to take Marksman rifle frm the crates for urself.Keep checking the Map so tht u can give orders to ur squad member. There will be three waves of enemy troops. Remember once the enemy squad knws ur position they'll flank u by both side.

I noticed that the Left flank always fails, so i put a mine on either side off the building which is right behind the 2 closest to the first bipod gun. then i ran about 20m up the road and to the left and placed some more mines to get the guys running down the hill. i Then put my squad into the building on the left of the APC, and issued return fire, or fire on my lead. to them. i hope This helps.
