There are thirty Phoenix Feather chests in all. However, eighteen is the maximum amount of Phoenix Feathers that can be collected. Once eighteen of the eyes have been found, all of the remaining Phoenix Feather chests will change to Red Orb chests. When opened, these chests release a large amount of Red Orbs, so it isn�t a total waste of time to seek them out.
Lair of the Titan
Phoenix Feather chests can be found in various locations throughout God of War II. Certain unmarked chests contain these items. These chests are usually placed in an inconspicuous location, but not always. The magic meter will increase with every six Phoenix Feathers found.
PHOENIX FEATHER (1/30): After entering the cave on the other side of the 'Fire of Olympus' area, use the grapple point to swing across to the opposite side of the pit. Once you are on the other side of the pit, turn right and continue heading in this direction until you are able to turn right again. The rope here leads back down to the other end of the pit. Jump up and take hold of the rope to slide back down. Quickly run over to the grapple and fling Kratos back over to the opposite side. Roll through the open gate and open the unmarked chest to acquire the first Phoenix Feather.
PHOENIX FEATHER (2/30): Once Typhon�s Bane has been taken from Typhon, return to the central platform. After clearing out the Sentries that spawn, travel along the path on the bottom left end of the platform. The path leads you down to an area that contains some Sentries, three frozen Red Orb chests, one frozen unmarked chest and a fire pit. Stand near the fire pit and press the Circle button to grab hold of a Sentry. Press Square to throw the enemy into the fire pit. Continue throwing enemies into the fire until the four chests surrounding the pit are accessible. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the unmarked chest on the far right.
PHOENIX FEATHER (3/30): After freeing Prometheus from his torment, move to the end of the mountain side and jump up onto the ledge. At the top of the second ledge, use Typhon�s Bane to hit the piece of wood which lowers a rope. Climb up this rope. Once you are up the rope, turn right and jump up the ledges to the climbable wall. Move across the wall and get off when you reach a small cave. The unmarked chest in the middle contains the Phoenix Feather.
The Garden of Lahkesis
PHOENIX FEATHER (4/30): This chest is found after the flight segment, on the Cliffs of Lahkesis. From the save altar, head to the left end of the walkway. The Phoenix Feather is in the first unmarked chest in the alcove near the end of the walkway.
The Steeds of Time
PHOENIX FEATHER (5/30): From the Steeds of Time save altar, drop down from the central platform and run to the end of the wooden walkway running along the right side of the central platform. The unmarked chest containing the Phoenix Feather is at the walkway�s end.
The Temple of Lahkesis
PHOENIX FEATHER (6/30): Near the beginning of the level, after you have climbed the waterfall, slide down the wall to the lower ridge. At the bottom, turn right and slide down the wall there. When you reach the end, follow the wall around to the rock ceiling. Sling across the ceiling to a large, breakable rock wall. Slash the rock wall until it crumbles. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the unmarked chest behind the boulder.
PHOENIX FEATHER (7/30): Once you have entered the room with the large statue, drop down from the bridge up ahead. On the bottom level, turn around and walk under the platform. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the unmarked chest on the right end of the dais.
PHOENIX FEATHER (8/30): Once the statue�s head has been broken off, drop down onto the walkway below. Follow the walkway along to the left. There is an unmarked chest containing a Phoenix Feather at the end.
The Bog of the Forgotten
PHOENIX FEATHER (9/30): After the battle with the Beast Lords and Cyclops, make your way to the tilting platform on the right side of this area. Grab hold of the object and drag it away from the gate. Open the gate and enter the 'Ruins of the Forgotten.' While moving down this path, keep an eye on the right for a large block in the corner. Get on top of this block, then double jump up into the air and press the Triangle button to dislodge an unmarked chest from the hanging block up above. The Phoenix Feather is in this chest.
PHOENIX FEATHER (10/30): After using the wounded soldiers corpse to jam the gears, move past the conveyor belt and down the path. Two unmarked chests sit at the end of the path. The Phoenix Feather is in the unmarked chest on the right.
PHOENIX FEATHER (11/30): This Gorgon Eye can only be obtained once you have acquired the Golden Fleece from Cerberus. Return to the area with the conveyor belt and Gorgon beams and use Golden Fleece on the first beam along the belt. The unmarked chest that is revealed contains the Phoenix Feather.
The Temple of Euryale
PHOENIX FEATHER (12/30): This chest can be found in the room with the two lifts that influence each other. When the first lift has reached the bottom, jump up and attack the snakehead on the wall to reveal an unmarked chest that contains the Phoenix Feather.
PHOENIX FEATHER (13/30): This chest is found after defeating Euryale, in the large area with the columns. After completing the puzzle, while swinging around the final grapple point before the exit gate, look to the right for a small platform above a doorway, there are two chests on this platform. Swing over to this platform and open the chest to find a Phoenix Feather.
PHOENIX FEATHER (14/30): This chest can be found after the crushing elevator sequence, just before the Rock Minotaur fight. Walk across the narrow beams. When you reach the end of the beams, grab hold of the ridge along the wall and use it to get over to the platform at the other end of the gap. Once across the gap, turn around, jump and grab hold of the rope hanging there. Climb up this rope to reach a small area containing a Red Orb chest and an unmarked chest containing the Phoenix Feather.
The Hall of Atropos
PHOENIX FEATHER (15/30): In the 'Courtyard of Atropos,' once you have managed to get up onto the bridge using the block, move to the other end of the bridge, turn left and jump over the bushes. The Phoenix Feather is in the chest here.
PHOENIX FEATHER (16/30): After using the 'Edge of Creation' save altar, move to the end of the walkway and use the grapple points to reach the roof across the gap. Stand on the mound of dirt to extend some roots over to the central platform. Stepping off of this mound retracts the roots. While standing on the dirt mound, activate the Amulet of the Fates and cross the roots to reach the central platform.
Drop down to the platform below the two trees. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the chest. Now you must return to the starting platform. To do this, stand on the dirt mound near the two trees and wait until the branches extending from the starting point is completely locked into the side of the central platform. Step off of the dirt mound and run across the branches back to the starting point, you have more than enough time.
PHOENIX FEATHER (17/30): This chest can be found in the 'Edge of Creation' area, after obtaining the Spear of Destiny. Drag the Fates Statue in the bottom right corner of this area onto the disc surrounding the handle. Grab hold of the handle and rotate the disc until the Fates Statue is facing the doorway. Next, drag the Fates Statue through the doorway, kick it down the ramp and drag it over to the pool of water.
Swim over to the opposite side of the pool. Turn around and walk as far back as you can (the Fates Statue is not on the screen), turn to where the Fates Statue is and activate the Amulet of the Fates. Use the grapple point to swing across the pool of water and then turn left around the corner. With the Amulet activated, you are free to move across to the chest without bringing the gate down. The Phoenix Feather is in the chest on the left.
Atlas
PHOENIX FEATHER (18/30): Once you are inside of Atlas, kill the Satyr and Harpies that spawn. Afterwards, approach the blocked doorway and hit the vines to make them retract. Pull the bone out from the doorway and push it to the wall on the left. Jump up onto the bone and then onto the ledge to discover a Red Orb chest and an unmarked chest. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the unmarked chest.
PHOENIX FEATHER (19/30): Following the Rock Minotaur battle, drag the boulder left by the Minotaur over to the edge of the platform near the opening in the wall. Jump onto the rock, double jump and glide over to the ledge. Pull yourself up and move over to the proceeding ledge. Look down from the ledge to the left. You should be able to see a platform that holds two unmarked chests. Glide over to the platform
The Palace of the Fates
PHOENIX FEATHER (20/30): Following the rotating spike room, head up the stairs on the left and go through the doorway to reach an outside area. Turn right and climb up the ladder near the end of the area. At the top of the ladder, press R1 to attach the Crank Handle to the bar. Grab hold of the handle and turn it clockwise until the flames below disappear. At this point, release the handle, face the Fates Statue and activate the Amulet of the Fates.
With the flames gone, glide over to the platform. Once on the platform that was previously blocked by the flames, turn right to discover a chest in a small alcove. The Phoenix Feather is inside of this chest.
PHOENIX FEATHER (21/30): Found in the 'Garden of the Gods.' As you first step foot into the area, turn left to find an unmarked chest and a Red Orb chest. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the unmarked chest.
PHOENIX FEATHER (22/30): After unfreezing the giant phoenix statue, turn the statue towards the frozen alcove that is to the right of the pool of water you used to enter this room. Use the lever to activate the statue�s flamethrower, melting the ice covering the alcove in the process. The Phoenix Feather is inside of the chest that is revealed.
PHOENIX FEATHER (23/30): In the underground, once you have safely made it through the crushing elevator, move down to the bottom of the screen to find two chests. The Phoenix Feather is in the unmarked chest.
PHOENIX FEATHER (24/30): In the underground, you eventually reach an area with a rope that will break when you are halfway across. Following this area, you soon come to another steam vent, which is initially covered by a large boulder. Equip Typhon�s Bane, hold the R2 button to aim at the symbol on the wall behind the steam and press Square to shoot the symbol. Do this until it is destroyed, revealing a secret area. The Phoenix Feather is found in this area.
The Phoenix Chamber
PHOENIX FEATHER (25/30): This chest is found in the room where you must use a statue to shield yourself from the flames. Push the statue towards the right side of the room. Push it right next to the gate along the right wall. Use the statue to shield yourself from the fire while you open the gate. The enemies will likely interfere, try your best to fight them off. Once you have raised the gate, open the chest to obtain the Phoenix Feather.
PHOENIX FEATHER (26/30): Underground, after releasing the phoenix, glide over to the save altar and use the steam reach the stairs up above. At the top of the stairs, continue moving left. The chest that contains the Phoenix Feather is in the corner.
PHOENIX FEATHER (27/30):.Once you reach the Phoenix�s platform, open the chest on the left.
The Temple of the Fates
PHOENIX FEATHER (28/30): In the initial area, after smashing the statue head, use the handle on the platform�s base to turn the ram towards the bottom-left corner of the screen. When the platform is positioned correctly, immediately activate the Amulet of the Fates. Get onto the platform and jump across to the ram. Run to the end of the ram and then glide across the platform that contains the chest.
PHOENIX FEATHER (29/30): Once you reach the 'Inner Sanctum' area, standing near the save altar, turn right and drop into the water there. Look for the chest in an alcove on the side of the platform.
PHOENIX FEATHER (30/30): This chest is found in the first room beyond the 'Inner Sanctum' save altar. Sling along the ceiling and drop down onto the platform on the opposite end of the room. Leap off of this platform from the right side and use the Icarus Wings to glide over to the high alcove along the wall. Grab hold of the ledge and climb up. One of the chests here contains the Phoenix Feather.
