What do you do at the alternate cave? Also are there any rare pokemon at alternate cave?

Not much is known about it besides there being rare Johto Pokemon (note: the Mystery Gift is requird for this i don't know how but it is). In their like Mareep, Aipom, Shuckle, Teddiursa, Stantler and Houndour.
There are some rumors of a Legendary Pokemon is in there but that is just rumors. You might need a nintendo event to unlock the pokemon in the alternate cave with the Mystery Gift.

There are no Pokemon in the Alternate Cave. But if you use an E-Reader or AR/Gameshark you can select the Pokemon you want to appear in there.

There is nothing to do in Altering Cave, though when you do the "Mystery Gift", a few rare pokemon do turn up:Mareep, Aipom, Pineco, Shuckle, Teddyursa, Houndour, Stantler and Smeargle.

You can only find Pokemon in there if you use a GS AR or an e-reader. If you use them then you can find plenty of rare Pokemon.
