Continuing the game with a VBA
Ok I have defeated the elite four and beaten my Rival and become Pokemon Master but I am using a visual boy advance so after it goes to the credits and finishes that it starts again, yet I know there are still several islands to see and do things on, so how do I continue the game with my VBA?

I'm pretty sure it has always done that, even on GameBoy. After you beat the Elite Four the first time, and the credits roll, you return home, but you still have all your Pokemon and badges and stuff. (Maybe you wanted to visit mommy or something.) You should be able to go to the islands now, just talk to Prof. Oak and get the National Dex, go to the Vermillion City dock, and head off into the islands!
*If you haven't been with Bill after the Cinnabar Gym to the first 3 islands yet, you probably can't get the National Dex yet. In that case, you need to go to the Cinnabar Poke Center, talk to Bill, and do that stuff first. Then get the dex, and go back to the other islands.

He means that the game starts completely over, as in there is no option to continue. I use a VBA and have the same problem. The only answer I can seem to find is to start over and change save type to 128K.

I had the same problem and I have tried a few things but there is nothing I can do to stop it restarting. Spent so much time on this game and had the most awesome Pokemon to find out I have lost it all and have to start all over again -.-. I hope one day there will be a solution for if this happens again.

Sorry Bro. But I've also tried many things but it doesn't work... If you don't mind starting over but not having this problem again then on VBA Go to Options, Emulator, Save Type, Then Choose 'Automatic' And 'Flash 128K'. And it should save properly. (Don't Try And go to an Old save Slot And Save the Game Manually because it doesn't work out) (And If you get an error saying 'PLEASE EXCHANGE THE BACKUP MEMEORY'. You might need to delete your old save file slots [sorry D:] but if this problem persists then you can always go back into your recycle bin and restore your old save slots, And they automatically go back into your FR.LG. R.S.E Game. SO ALWAYS SAVE MANUALLY, AND AVOID SAVE SLOTS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!! Anyways I feel your pain, This happened to me yesterday on Pokemon Firered Omega and my Team Was Beast D: ... Anyways You don't wanna hear that so GoodLuck
