How to Defeat Hurstwine

Hurstwine and his minions are a miniboss battle CJ and her companions must face before they encounter the final boss in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. This How to Defeat Hurstwine will tell you how to take down this enemy.

Where to Find Hurstwine

Hurtswine is a high-ranking Empire Imperial who you will encounter during the quest 'Where This All Began' when you are exploring the Sorcerer's Lab. It is mandatory that you defeat this boss and his minions in combat in order to progress through the story and reach the final boss and the conclusion of Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising.

How to Defeat Hurstwine

The battle will begin with Hurstwine and three of his minions charging CJ and her companions. Take down the minions first as they have a low amount of HP and then focus your efforts on Hurstwine who will spin a bola momentarily before hurling it towards you. This projectile attack can be easily dodged by jumping into the air. Keep in mind if you get hit by the bola you will be bound to the ground and unable to move for several seconds. You will be able to determine when Hurstwine will launch his bolo by observing his non-armed hand for spinning animations. Hurstwine is also able to execute a backflip knife throw where he will hurl two sets of knives. This attack has a very long range and can be easily avoided by switching to CJ and performing her quickstep dodge.

Hurstwine may summon a third minion to help him, if this happens you should focus on taking it down before reverting your attention back to Hurstwine as trying to deal with two enemies at once can become overwhelming. Hurstwine also has a spinning sickle slash which you need to be careful of as it will deal plenty of damage. When Hurstwine performs this attack he will wind up for a brief moment and launch his weapon out in a single direction. Anyone in its way on ground level that does not jump at the correct moment and gets hit will take a lot of damage.

Even though there is a flashing red indicator warning you when Hurstwine is about to attack this boss moves extremely fast making his attacks tricky to avoid. If CJ or one of her companions are inflicted with 'Bind' and get knocked back you should switch to Isha and use her ranged attacks to retaliate. Continuously look to execute Link Attacks to stunlock Hurstwine in a corner as doing so will prevent the boss from performing any attacks until the Link Attack is over which will allow you to deal massive damage. Killing Hurstwine will take you straight to the final boss.
