Gold is one of the main resources in the game which is used for a variety of upgrades and buildings. One of the many things Gold upgrades is the Town Center—which, if upgraded, shall advance the town to a more modern age. Once the Town Center is upgraded, the town center will have higher hit points and even a larger storage capacity for gold and Food.

Other than the Town Center, Gold can also be used to build and upgrade Economy-based building such as caravans, fruit trees, gold mines, houses, libraries, mills, storehouses, temples, etc. Aside from economy-based buildings, Gold is also used to upgrade and purchase Defensive Buildings like catapults, garrisons, gates, walls, traps, towers, etc. Gold is also used to purchase Technology research you can use for your town at the Library.

There are several ways to acquire gold for your city. Some of them are as simple and easy as hunting wild animals and by tapping your road while other strategies require a more strategic and interactive approach like engaging in Battles and taking loot.

The common strategies to gain enough Gold in the game are:

1. Looting from multiplayer and single-player Battles

2. Collecting from Caravans

3. Collecting Road Bonus

4. Gold Shipment

5. Hunting Animals

6. Clearing Forests

1. Looting from Battles

Some say that Looting from Battles, may it be multi-player battles or single-player battles, are the quickest and most effective way of gaining Gold in the game. But in order to do this, you will have to prepare a strong and durable Army that will survive each battle. In multi-player battles, some players would rather go straight for the markets, and other resource buildings, and end the battle once they have acquired all loot. Not being able to destroy or win the battle, however, will cost you a number of medals so be sure to measure what you value most—medals or loot.

When deciding to go straight for Gold buildings, deploy troops that do quick and strong damage on resource buildings and aim for Gold buildings that are unprotected outside the walls or perhaps are far away from defending troops. Staying away from Defensive Buildings and troops are important since most troops who specialize on resource buildings usually have low hitpoints.

Defeating your opponent, in battle is ideal since getting a five-star victory rewards you with a Diamond, another precious resource in the game. When deciding to go for complete destruction, make sure to battle with someone who is at the same level as you are. But if you have a formidable Army and know that you can take on stronger enemies, then go ahead and try your luck with that since higher level opponents usually yield larger amounts of loot.

In Single-player Battles, a map is listed with a few cities which offer a fixed amount of gold and Food available for you to loot. In single-player battles, your offense will be rated depending on the amount of damage you have inflicted on the city. A city is labeled as “Conquered” if you are able to have a five-star finish. Completing all the campaigns with a five-star win rewards the players with Crowns. It is also important to note that engaging in a single-player campaign can be done even during a peace treaty, whereas engaging in a multi-player battle automatically cancels the peace treaty you have on your city. Single-player battles are often launched when players would like to practice a strategy against enemies since it is easier to find cities well-within your level and losing battles does not reduce the number of medals you have.

2. Collecting from Road Bonus

As building a strong empire is the goal, having a strong and vibrant Economy is key. With the heart of the city reliant on the Town Center, all economic activities and development can be properly evaluated with the capacity of going from one place to another. And with that, having roads are crucial in the game.

But when it comes to roads, building them anywhere is not recommended. To reap the most benefits of having roads, it is important to place the roads efficiently around your city. It is important to have all of the roads reach all the your buildings in the city (especially markets, farms, mills, etc.) but still have them all connected to your Town Center. Doing this will increase your Road Bonus, which offers you the chance to collect a higher percentage of Gold every hour.

3. Collecting from Caravans

With the presence of roads, it is important to also have experts on the roads that can help boost your Economy further—this is exactly what Caravans do. They travel around your city visiting different buildings in your city (this is why connecting your roads to every building is important) and thus, producing gold for you to collect after every hour.

The Caravans first appear during the Bronze Age and their capacity to produce Gold is increased every time you upgrade them—of course, the higher the level of upgrading, the longer it takes for the upgrade to be completed.

As Caravans produce Gold every hour, it is important to check on them every time and collect the Gold they have produced to avoid having all that Gold picked up by invaders. When your city is under attacked, your Caravans run and hide dropping all the Gold they have collected and leaving it for your attacker to collect.

4. Gold Shipment

To boost production in the city, it is important to have markets and mills available. Markets, in the game, have the capacity to store Gold. The higher the level of the Market, the higher the storage capacity of the Market. And the higher the storage capacity of the Market the larger capacity of Gold Shipment.

In order to avail of the Gold Shipment, you will have to trade a few precious goods like Cider, which you could get by gathering fruits from Fruit Trees. If you do not have enough goods at the moment, you may spend a few Crowns to complete the number of missing goods needed to fulfill the trade.

And just like the Caravans and the Road Bonuses, it is important to collect the Gold Shipment as soon as it is available before raiding attackers take the Gold as loot.

5. Hunting Animals

Roaming wild animals are essential in the game—their presence has made it easy for you to grow during the early stages. Animals like bunnies, foxes, and bears, once hunted, provide you with a decent amount of Gold.

There is no specific time that these animals appear although the rate of which certain animals appear depend on the amount of Gold they provide. For example, bunnies provide a small amount of Gold but they are plentiful in the game. Bears, on the other hand, provide quite a lot of Gold if they are hunted down, but rarely show up in the game however. Aside from the frequency of such animals, the number of Citizens required to hunt a certain animal also depends on the number of Gold they can yield.

6. Clearing Forests

As you begin to build your empire and continue to grow, having available space to house new buildings and structures is important. In the game, you have the option to make some space by clearing forests. With luck, clearing forests makes available several surprises like Gold Mines, Ancient Ruins, Lumps of Gold and even Mercenaries you may hire to join your Army.

Clearing Forests, however, may cost you a few Gold coins. The higher your level, the more expensive it will be to clear forests so be sure to apply some strategy by thinking about the layout you want for your city properly before clearing out some forests. Clearing forests also requires around two to three Citizens to complete.
