The dodges and spectral attacks that your character performs during combat in Babylon's Fall are tied to a spirit meter which depletes when you use them. If you allow your spirit meter to completely drain you will not be able to use either ability and place yourself at a disadvantage. It is therefore essential that you keep an eye on your spirit meter and ensure it is kept in a healthy status, so those types of attacks are always available to you.

There are certain factors you need to consider in order to manage a healthy spirit meter in Babylon's Fall. The most significant thing is that you understand how to replenish spirit. Every weapon in the game except the shield has a spirit siphon stat, which determines the amount of spirit generated per hit. Typically, you will be using standard attacks during combat but whenever you perform a follow-up attack after a successful perfect dodge or parry you will restore a larger chunk of spirit.

Keep in mind that perfect dodges and spectral attacks drain spirit, so you will not be able to spam them. This means you have to hone your timing, so you don't get penalized when you use them. This attention to timing also applies when you perform parries in Babylon's Fall. Parries unlike dodges will not deplete your spirit meter.
