What is the X-Baton

In Astral Chain your primary weapon is the X-Baton, it is a police baton which is used by all members of the Neuron Task Force. This weapon has the ability to transform into three different forms, each of which has their own unique abilites. When in Baton mode the X-Baton resembles a standard collapsible police baton, in Blaster mode it resembles a handgun and in Gladius mode it resembles a two handed greatsword, the latter of which is the largest of the three forms it can tranform into. When the X-Baton is used to attack, regardless of what form it is in, the main body of the weapon will glow with a blue energy and become surrounded with blue, geometric crystal-like shapes which will disappear when the attack finishes.

During gameplay you can change the form of the X-Baton to deal with enemies accordingly. The baton and blaster form for example are unable to damage shields that are found on certain Chimera such as Laius, whereas the gladius form has no difficulty breaking through them. Each of the X-Baton modes offers a ground and midair combo as well as delay and charge attacks. Each of these can be followed with a sync attack after being executed, with the ground and midair combos only having a sync attack opportunity at the very end of their respective attack strings. To attack using the X-Baton in any form when it is equipped you press or hold ZR.
