Astral Chain is a synergetic action game set in the year 2078 where the last survivors of the human race live in a huge city called the Ark. You play the role of an elite cop on the Neuron special task force whose job is to investigate the ever-growing presence of the otherworldly Chimera that threaten the world. In order to resist these creatures, humanity has developed a special weapon called the Legion. The Legion are subservient Chimeras who have been suited with armour and tethered to a human officer who controls them by a neural chain that connects their minds. Legions allow their human masters to see the Chimeras and fight them, they are a separate entity with their own attacks and abilities who act as your partner and help with your investigations. Training Area

Take the time to visit the training area as there are several programs there that will teach you useful skills and tricks that you will be able to take advantage of during the game.

Explore Everywhere

It is always worthwhile exploring whether you are at the police station or out in Harmony Square as doing so will give you the opportunity to find some hidden items. It also enables you to find the hidden side quests that could net you some extra gear and experience points. If you want to get the best grade in a given chapter you will need to complete all the side quests which comprise of Red Cases (combat missions) and Blue Cases (police missions).

Attacking the Enemy

Whenever possible aim for the enemy's head or back when you attack them as doing so will enable you to deal extra damage. You can always use your chain to set up the attack or your Legion to distract them.

Time your Counterattacks

It is essential that you become proficient at dodging at the last second as doing so will temporarily slow down time and give you the opportunity to perform a powerful counterattack. It will also allow your Legion to reposition and counterattack.

Perform Sync Attacks

Press ZL to perform a powerful attack in unison with your Legion whenever a bright circle appears near your weapon during combat. These prompts will appear when you dodge, summon at the right time, and after certain special attacks. You can also turn some sync attacks into combos to keep an enemy stunned and taking plenty of damage by pressing ZR.

Free Hits

Use your chain to rebound charging enemies or wrap it around the enemy so you bind them. Both of these attacks will allow you to get some free hits.

Use the IRIS

The Legatus Unit houses the IRIS which you can jump into to bring up the health bar of an enemy. Once you have seen it you can drop straight back out. This is particularly useful when fighting a big boss.

Visit Tabitha

Make sure you pay Tabitha a visit whenever you are in the HQ as she can upgrade your X-Baton and Legions. Upgrade the X-Baton first as doing so will unlock new attacks or forms for your weapon up until around level 5.

Upgrade Legions

Make sure you visit the Legion tab in the pause menu frequently as there are plenty of sub-menus there that allow you to upgrade your Legion's skill trees using the Gene Codes you earn from each mission.

Gel Enemies

If you want to get the best items in Astral Chain you will have to do some backtracking as the Gel enemy which drop great items when you kill them tend to appear in areas you have already come from and are unlikely to return to for story reasons.

Claim your Rewards

As you progress through the game you will rack up plenty of rewards by completing the Orders found in the game's 'Status' menu. These rewards need to be claimed manually and to do this you need to open the 'Pause' menu, select 'Status' and then 'Orders'. You can click the right analog stick to filter all of your unclaimed rewards to the top, allowing you to obtain any power-ups, upgrade materials and customization items awaiting you.
