#4 – Zack Fair – Final Fantasy VII

Since Cloud took mantel of mascot of the Final Fantasy VII, there was no much room to push forward another one until the prequel to VII came along. The Crisis Core was a game that surprised many, and Zack was definitely a character that many people could relate to. It revealed the true past of 'Cloud,' and it demonstrated to everyone how much cooler Zack was than Cloud: no wonder Aerith and Tifa liked Zack more.

With mentors, such as Genesis, Sephiroth, and Angeal, it was actually inevitable that Zack would move up through the SOLDIER ranks. However, with the tribulations provided by the storyline, Zack grew as a character, and he was in a world in which his friends were at stake. He also gave us enthusiasm to persevere, because he was a go-getter since his early days.

After the revelation of his long time mentor Genesis, he became driven and focused to find out the truth that lay ahead. It is evident that Crisis Core was a more involved game, and Zack made a better protagonist that Cloud ever did. This made Cloud to desire to be like him!
