9. Doshin the Giant

If anything can be said about the GameCube's exclusive collection, it's that is has a bunch of really weird games. Doshin the Giant is one of these games. Although it wasn't released in North America, a European release for the game exists, providing GameCube owners with a FreeLoader or a modded system to enjoy the game in English.

Doshin the Giant is a 'god game', a genre made popular by the PC series Black & White. In these god games, you play as a god-like figure (or an actual god, at times) in charge of protecting a group of people and helping their civilization grow. Unlike games like Civilization, though, you have various powers available to you to help the people along more than a typical leader can, usually in the form of elemental or terraforming powers, changing the landscape around you to make life easier for those around them.

Doshin the Giant doesn't deviate much from this general formula, though starring as a huge yellow giant is a bit unique. It's your goal to move around the island, making its inhabits happier. Once you get enough love from the villagers, Doshin will become larger, upgrading the giant's terraforming abilities. All of this is in the quest for the villagers to erect monuments to the giant. It's a fun little title, and while it may be a little harder to find due to its lack of a North American release, it's definitely a gem of the GameCube collection.
