Top 10 Playstation Games that need to be on PSOne Classics

8. Sexy Parodius

We have a distinct lack of shumps in the PSOne Classics section. This may be due to the fact that gamers' tastes in the genre changing from a straight up difficult score attack game to hundreds of bullets littering the screen at one, a now-genre staple aptly labeled 'bullet hell'. It may also have something to with the fact that shumps are no longer particularly popular outside of Japan, with many of the genre's modern releases only reaching a small, niche audience.

Even so, there is an audience for these types of games, and many fans old and new would certainly love a way to easily play a game of the silly Parodius series. The shump series, whose title mash-up of the words 'parody' and 'Gradius' should give you an idea of what it's all about, has mostly stayed in Japan, with only two of the titles releasing in Europe. However, the wacky series deserves to be experienced by fans that don't have the chance to import any of the games or don't want to try the game via less legal means.

Sexy Parodius shouldn't be ignored just because it's in Japanese, either; there have been a few waves of PSOne Imports that bring over previous Japanese-only titles to other regions, albeit with the games still untranslated. Being a shmup, though, Sexy Parodius doesn't really need a translation to enjoy; the few bits of dialogue are easily determined by the silly, outlandish cutscenes, and all the important bits are actually in English. The only thing about Sexy Parodius that may be a little off putting to the American audience is some of its imagery; while there's nothing overly erotic in the game, there are some more risqué images that might be a little… revealing

Like Breath of Fire III, Sexy Parodius and other titles in the series received a PSP port; however, this collection was only released in Japan, making it more difficult to obtain for the portable than a European title. A simple PSOne classics release would make it easy for those curious to try the series without having to drop the time and cash to find a decent import copy.
