Top 10 Most Underrated Games
1) Lost Odyssey
Lost Odyssey makes the number one spot on this list because it was one of the last good turn-based JRPGs ever released for console. Even Final Fantasy has strayed away from that type of gameplay mechanic and it has left a huge niche untapped. Many RPG fans grew up playing games like this and they no longer have any new options to satisfy this interest. Lost Odyssey pays homage to the old school RPG.
Lost Odyssey was one of the first games developed by Mistwalker, a new game studio founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi designed greats like Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Trigger so RPG fans had some high hopes for Lost Odyssey.
Critics didn't much care for the game, saying its mechanics were old and outdated. It got decent review scores, a 78 aggregate review score, but not high enough to convince skeptical fans to try out this new IP from a new studio. The game failed to break the one million sales mark due in part to the fact it was released on Xbox 360. The PS3 had a much wider audience for JRPGs.
Lost Odyssey used an interactive ring system similar to The Legend of Dragoon where if you hit a button at the exact right moment your attacks would do more damage. It also featured a series of short stories called “dreams” that helped players learn the history and the main characters. If you like reading, then the dreams will most likely be one of your favorite parts of the game. The best one in my opinion is the one titled “The Bread of Grandma Coto.”
Gamers that did play Lost Odyssey generally loved it. Fans have been hoping for a Lost Odyssey 2 for years but it unfortunately looks like that may never happen. Conclusion
Like with any top ten lists, keep in mind this is opinion based. With so many underrated video games out there, it is difficult to narrow down a list of just ten entries. In order to make this list, I had to have personally played the game so that likely eliminates several key games that should have been included. What games do you think should have made the list? Leave a comment below to share your opinion.
Hello? Where's Psychonauts?
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness and Sky are all severely underrated; One of IGN's reviewers gave a poor review of the game which demoted the initiative to play the game, however why is it a fact that so many other people who have played this game, criticized the IGN reviewer and loved the game? It's because it's so good in every aspect.
PMD explorers of sky was the 2nd best pokemon game to me dude its super cool for me atleast
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. The most underrated video game of all time, it's literally the best RPG I have ever play, for countless reasons. An underrated masterpiece.
Kay ham ahase game dounlod nahi kar sakte he.......
The SNES Shadowrun was better than the FPS Shadowrun. It was significantly closer to the tabletop game
I disliked that Adam Wake basically had a final boss about as difficult to deal with as the normal enemies. It was still a decent game, just the final boss was a real let down
Dragon's Dogma is terribly underrated. You literally can't trust the reviews, because most of them are made up. No fast travel, too hard, and nonsensical story are just some of the lies being told about it. I'll admit there are some flaws, and no multiplayer just doesn't make sense, because the foundation for it is there. However, it's still one of the best games I've played.
Unfortunately, Capcom made a jerk move by making Bitterblack Isle non - downloadable. The only way to purchase it is to buy the Dark Arisen addition, and that includes the original game. Then they advertised, "Includes the original Dragon's Dogma" on the box like it's a good thing. The game was being dished before Bitterblack Isle was announced, and this definitely didn't help. Also, Bitterblack Isle is worth buying (unless you already payed full price for the original). It adds much needed difficulty and some cool boss fights.
I heard a rumor about a sequel. I don't think it's possible, but I hope I'm wrong.
Just recently finished replaying LoD. Nostalgia plays a big aspect into this game. Looking back it was fantastic, now its somewhat painful to play. It was a product of its time and like many other games it did not age well while still others did.
LoD is a best RPG besides FF. every RPG fan will loved it
Lost Odyssey is a truly amazing game. One I've played and replayed numerous times. Has a great story with characters who are engaging and believable. The Thousand Years of Dreams gives good insight into the memories of Kaim and each story is amazingly well written.
LoD!! AMAZING Game!
Lost Odyssey is the most mature JRPG in terms of story..i think i will go back play the game again
Legend of the Dragoon was my FAVORITE game (besides Jet Moto and Twisted Metal 2) for PS1. Challenging, tons of side quests, great soundtrack, great gear, superb plot line, unforgettable boss battles. Loved it through and through. Im glad you're giving it the respect it deserves. Thank you.
Shadowrun was a great game
