When you start in the forest continue straight on through the door then when you get to the next area you need to jump down to the area below from the ledge on the right. You will have to fight some demons then continue on to the purple smoke, in the next area you will have to fight some assault demons after you beat them take the exit in the northwest of the area then you will end up in the lapis river area. Two mephistos will attack you but you do not have to fight them it's best if you do though for your ranking, you need to walk into the purple smoke under the bridge. You will now be at the near the first area after you defeat some demons you can jump up the area on the left and you can leave the forest.
