Ok....i have 17 gold bolts and it says under my items list:

Used 0

I was just wondering how to use them and what they do.Thank you to whoever tells me!

On the second planet if I remember right there is a teleport gate next to Ratchet space ship. There you can buy some gold weapons with the gold bolts.
