Kut-ku.genprey armor, and the weapon depends on what you prefer to use.

If you're a Sword and shield kind of person, the Poison battleaxe line is great.

For greatswords, the Great serpentblade or dragon agito lines. I personally prefer the serpentblade, but I hear good things about Agito.

When it's lances you favour, Babel Spear is probably the best choice if you've got the time to make it, though you can also use the Ogre Tusk though it's just as hard to make, if not harder. It shouldn't be too much harder to just use one of the lesser ones of either lines.

Though I don't suggest a hammer, it's possible if you know what you're doing. The Bone broadaxe is relatively easy to make, and quite strong. Make sure you bring plenty of whetstones though. If you've got the time, you can make something from the Iron Impact tree, it ends with Iron Impact+ a hammer equal to the Bone broadaxe but with twice the sharpness. You could go down the bone hammer tree if you please, though to make the final form you will be farming Kut-ku a lot, as the Kut-ku chin/Kut-ku jaw requires a beak, which has a rather low drop rate.

Last but not least, (As I'm assuming you're not trying it with a bowgun) Dual swords don't give you many good options, but you should be able to manage a Los with Cyclone, an offshoot of the Assassin Dagger line.

If you've got any questions about making any of these weapons feel free to ask, and if you need tips on the technique for killing one with said weapons, I can answer that too.
