How to Beat Dweller-In-Darkness Boss

The first boss you encounter in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is the Dweller-In-Darkness boss in chapter 4 and is a difficult boss to defeat. This How to Beat Dweller-In-Darkness Boss guide will tell you how you can easily defeat this tentacled creature.

When you attempt to escape from Lady Hellbender at the end of Chapter 4 you will face off against the Dweller-In-Darkness boss, and you will require accurate timing on top of using strong Abilities to defeat it. There are three stages to defeating this boss and each requiring different tactics to clear. Defeating this difficult boss is required to progress the story.

Stage 1

During the first stage of the battle, you need to keep a look-out for the creature's huge tentacles, which you can escape by dodging out of the way. Make sure, while you are avoiding the tentacles, you also fire at them with your blasters. The quickest and easiest way to clear this stage is to focus on one tentacle at a time. Once the life bar for a tentacle is depleted, there will be a prompt for Gamora to cut off the limb.

Stage 2

The second stage of the boss fight will activate once Gamora has cut off two tentacled limbs. It will begin with the boss summoning waves of minions and two more huge tentacles appearing. Use the same tactic as before to deal with the tentacles, this time though the monsters limbs will retreat backwards but the trigger for cutting them will be the same, you just need to make sure you look out for the button prompt as it will appear over a damaged tentacle in the back of the boss area. Once Gamora cuts off the remaining tentacles, the final stage of the battle will commence. If you have it unlocked, Rocket's 'Gravistack Grenade' ability is particularly useful in this stage for grouping swarms of enemies together. A good tactic in this stage if you have Rocket's 'Gravistack Grenade' ability is to use it to group swarms of enemies together and then use an ability such as Gamora's 'Shadow Strike' or Star-Lord's 'Fan the Hammer' to take them down. It is important to remember that the enemies will infinitely respawn, so don't try and clear all of them before attacking the tentacles again, just enough to make attacking the monster easier.

Stage 3

More enemies will spawn in stage 3 and the Dweller-In-Darkness will launch explosives at you which need to be dealt with before they explode. Use the same tactic as before to take down the swarming enemies and as soon as the bombs land get Drax to throw them back at Lady Hellbender's villainous monster. This must be done before they explode, otherwise it will injure the Guardians. Once you have done enough damage to the boss, a prompt will appear and Gamora will deliver the final blow.
