How do I add a room to an existing house?

I want to add a room to an existing house without building a second level to the house. I can extend the floor plan but don't know how to build a dividing wall in the bigger room.

Just build the smaller room inside the big one, but make sure that the wall is long enough to divide the room in half. Also make sure to add a door for your Sims.
