Do gardening, go to work, go to School and do Baking. Good way to get those Simoleons up without resorting to changing time and dates, which might affect your game.

Ah, ran out of money ! I know it is hard and will take up to three days , however when you have built the Pet store it will say that
( according to Sims free play ) dogs can pick up money and the amount depending on the breed and size and how rare it is ?
If you are looking for LP you are best for going for a feline / cats and yet again depending on the rarity/size/breed will be how much money and how much LP a cat will provide ? Keep in mind though cats mainly pick up more money or a little LP - maybe 1 or 2 , 3 if you are lucky !
