Mystery class change

Bogus Report:

This happened to me, I'm not sure if it was just my game or others but anyway.

You know ross ewan and amelia can be promoted three times right. Well after you beat the game (i think, I was using a gameshark so it could be just me) they can choose the be prommoted or to stay the same class. But if you choose to stay the same class, they will have to use either a master seal or an knights crest for amelia, a guiding ring for ewan, and a heros crest for ross. If you use them, the class level they can only go to is either a sage for ewan, a paladin for amelia and a hero for ross. Weird

What to upgrade Low class Characters to

Now you can do what ever you feel like doing but am just going to do submit this just to help you get a good idea of what to upgrade into.

Ross-Pirate-Beserker
Amelia-Cavalier-Great Knight
Ewan-Shaman-Druid

Or:

Ross-Pirate-Warrior
Amelia-Cavalier-Paladin
Ewan-Mage-Sage

Now always remember that they are really bad in the beginning, but when they are promoted they are some the best characters in the game. So make sure you train them in the tower of Valni (not ross you get him earlier).

Leveling Up Healers

Bogus Report:

Leveling up Moulder, Natasha, and L'Arachel can be a pain because you can only gain experience by healing and sometimes using a Restore Stave or an Unlock Stave, but you can go on a foggy map and use a Torch Stave and they will gain more experience than they would if they just healed someone. This can be time consuming and will probably have to buy multiple Torch Staves.

How to Kill Valter in 1 hit

Unrated
Verified by: unverified
Bogus Report:

It is very easy to do. First, get a unit with high strength and can wield axes. It is best to go with a Warrior or Beserker, since they have pretty high strength. Now, on chapter 15, on the right hand side there is an enemy Beserker. Kill him to get the Dragon Axe. It is good against wyvern units. Now take your high strength axe unit up to Valter and he is dead with one swipe. (Unless you miss) Please to not blame me if it does not work. It worked for me. Enjoy!

Great Way to Advance Rangers, archers, snipers, or any magic use

Unrated

Bogus Report:

To do this you must have beaten chapter 8 and get to go to the tower of Valani 1. Now take a ranger, archer, sniper, or any magic user and put him in combat in the tower. It is best if you have some stronger units to defend it if it is weak. I use Paladins, Great Knights, or Generals. Now destroy all the monsters except the boss. Now stand where you can attack him but he can't attack you. Keep on striking until he goes down. You will gain a ton of exp.

Enemy glitch

Unrated
Verified by: unverified
Bogus Report:

-1. Introduction
-------------

Hello, all. This FAQ was written in order to organize in a legible and easy to
Access format all known information about the Enemy Glitch, also known as the
Mine Glitch, Phantom Glitch, Gorgon Glitch, and other names. I am calling it
The Control Enemy glitch because that is what the glitch does, allow you to
Control all the enemies on screen. This FAQ is by no means final, as the
Glitch is still rather new, and new information may crop up as a result. If/
When it does, I'll try and update the guide to include it. Now then, onward!

-------------
-2. Overview
-------------

The Control Enemy Glitch does exactly what it says it does. It allows you, the
Player, to control any enemy on the screen, provided that they have not yet
Taken their turn. The trick can either be amazingly difficult or incredibly
Easy to perform, depending on the situations under which you execute it. The
Purpose of this guide to to explain what methods to use for a 100% success
Rate for this glitch.

-------------
-3. How to perform
-------------

To perform the trick, you need two things. An enemy that can attack your unit,
And a unit who cannot counterattack. To activate the glitch, you must end your
Turn, allow the enemy unit to attack your unit, then AFTER the HP bars vanish,
But BEFORE the Unit greys out, hard or soft reset your game. Resume your file,
And if all works well, the game should show the enemy unit greying out (you
Should not see the battle play again. If you do, then you were not succesful),
And you will have complete control of every enemy unit for one turn. This can
Technically be performed anywhere, but is very hard to reproduce reliably. Certain things make the trick easier to perform.

A. Whomever your chosen unit is, remove all of their weapons. This means they
Can not counterattack, period, so they can't screw up the glitch by countering
The enemy. Try and prevent a counter by other means if using the phantom,
Such as having it get attacked at range, and hope it doesn't spawn with a
Tomahawk.

B. Turn off animations. Not a requirement, but IMO, it makes the timing of the
Reset far easier to judge correctly.

-------------
-4. Where to perform
-------------

A. PWASE
PWASE, or Panels Which Affect Something Else (from hereon referred to only as
PWASE), are the key to reliably performing the glitch. Numerous amounts of
Empirical testing by myself and others have shown that the window of
Opportunity widens dramatically when the enemy unit is on a PWASE. Key word
Being ON. There are several PWASE which are invalid for our purposes because
They cannot be stood upon, such as the poison tiles in the Ruins.

B. What are PWASE?
PWASE are, as the name suggest, any tile on the map which causes an effect on
Another panel and in some cases, units. There are several known PWASE, but it
Is by no means a complete and total list. Many potential PWASE are unconfirmed
And someone may discover something thought not to previously be a PWASE.

C. Known PWASE
Known PWASE include The Fire tiles on the Peak, The panels on which Gorgon
Eggs begin, and the panels which snags begin on (Not the bridge the create,
But the panel they leave when you fell them to create a bridge).

D. Non PWASE
Breakable walls are not, for some reason, PWASE. Poison trap tiles in the
Ruins are similarly invalid, as they cannot be stood upon (the actual panels
Are the walls themselves, not the floor panels they affect). Forests, Houses,
Forts, castles, arenas, stairs, the bridge tiles in Ruins 8, reinforcement
Tiles, doors and ruins are similarly not valid PWASE. I previously erroneously
Reported the star trap tiles as PWASE after a succesful usage, but further
Testing has revealed that the success was a miracle of timing, not the
Convenience of PWASE.

E. Unconfirmed PWASE
There may be other tiles which are PWASE, but I have no idea which ones they
Might be. Feel free to test for yourself, and tell me if you find a new one.

F. Maps with PWASE- For easy reference, known maps with PWASE include-
Neleras Peak
Narube River
Zaha Woods
Z'albul Marsh
Ruins floor 9

-------------
-5. What to do with the glitch
-------------

With such a powerful glitch at your disposal, there are a lot of obvious
Things to do with it, such as have all the enemies waste their own turns, or
Have them discard all their weaponry. These are obvious, and not the purpose
Of this section of the FAQ. This section is for less obvious uses for the
Glitch.

A. Take Enemy weapons- This requires you to have your main lord in battle with
You, and in range of at least one enemy unit, if not more. Once you have
Succesfully performed the glitch, load up as many weapons onto the units who
Can make it to your lord, and use the supply command to unload the weapons
Onto your lord. Be warned that only Myrrh can use the monster weapons, and
That anyone can use the Mogall's and Gorgon's magic, including Tethys.

B1. Teach ANYONE Dark Magic.- This glitch requires two things. Gorgons, and the
Stone item they drop. Using the take enemy weapons glitch, take the stone item
From the gorgons until you can use them at least 7 times. This will give any
Unit a D rank in dark magic, allowing them to use dark tomes. No other enemy
Weapon can give dark Weapon XP. Only Dark Weapon XP can be gained like this so
You can't teach a druid Light, for example. The implications of this should be
Obvious, but as a simple teaser, "Sage or Bishop with Naglfar".

B2. Autoweapon- A corrolary to the above, if you give dark magic to a unit who
Is not normally supposed to be able to use it, and send them into the Link
Arena with the autoweapon rules on, they will be equipped with a Flux tome,
Regardless of whether or not they have a high enough rank (D) to wield it.

C. Hammerne 2.0- The "Hammerne" Trick is also known as the Gorgon egg trick.
Perform the basic glitch on the Peak when your lord is next to a gorgon egg,
And then give any item, such as a Legendary Weapon to the Gorgon egg. Make
Sure they have something you don't care about in the first slot, as their slot
1 item will vanish when the egg becomes a gorgon. An elixer or vulneary is
Suggested to speed up the growth of the egg into a gorgon. Once they
Transform, whatever items, aside from their first slot item, will be restored
To full usage. Perform the Control Enemy glitch again and have them deposit
The newly restored items into the supply inventory.

D. Get an extra Hoplon Guard/ Naglfar/ etc-
Simply put, if you're willing to waste the time to use the glitch without aid
Of PWASE, it's possible to take extra instances of the Hoplon Guard, Naglfar,
And anything else that an enemy can hold.

-------------
-6. Known issues with the Glitch
-------------

As skippy as this glitch is, it does have certain effects which are or can be
Considered negative. While non of these can actually destroy your file, they
Can cause your game to either perform wierdly, or freeze.

A. Image Artifacting- When performing the glitch, and examining the enemy's
Inventory, it is not uncommon for a number or artifacts to appear on your
Screen. To date, This has not been harmful, but it does look most odd.

B. Missing animations- Getting ranks in magic with a unit not supposed to have
It will make their weapon animations vanish. In the case of Sword units, the
Runesword animation is substituted for their normal animation. For other units
Using magic, their animation simply does not play. Gaining a weapon level in a
Weapon will apparently reset the problem, so that normal animations still
Play. Any weapon unit wielding monster magic will not display the animation,
Period. Magic units are unaffected.

C. Tethys- When using Tethys to attack, TURN OFF THE ANIMATION. Otherwise, if
She gets two attacks, the game WILL freeze. Most likely, this occurs because
Her animation does not have a "pull back to normal" phase, and when the game
Tries to do this, it finds nothing, and searches endlessly for nonexisting
Data. This is just a hypothesis, but it makes sense to me.

D1. Promotion- When promoting a unit who has enemy items on them, make sure you
Remove any enemy weapons from the unit. If the unit has an enemy item on them
When you promote them, the screen will go screwy and the game may freeze. If it
Does not, then most likely, the promoted unit will be shown running in place in
The upper left of the screen. This can be solved by going into your supply
Command and back out, which should clear things up. In general, though, it's
Simpler to just make sure the enemy items are off your units when you promote
Them.

D2. Enemy promotion- Under the same token, never attempt to promote an enemy
Unit. The game will freeze on you, forcing a reset.

E. SPOILERS- Don't use enemy weapons with weapon units against the final boss.
It'll freeze your game, since the game is programmed to show the animation,
Which overrides the general animation cancelling.

A Good Way to get Money

Bogus Report:

This method works best near the end of the game. Go into the first level of Lagdov Ruins and look at all of the enemies' items. If enemies fairly close to the start have anything good (such as spears or brave equipment) go and kill them. After that retreat and sell the items for good money or keep them and use them.

Clearing the final stage (chapter 30)

Unrated
Verified by: unverified
Bogus Report:

This section contains *SPOILERS* so do not read on if you have not played the game.

On the Battle Preparations stage (28x) buy lots of "killing edges", “killing lances” etc. There is also a secret shop in one of the spaces near the top right of the map but you will need a member’s card to gain access.

Before the final battle take with you a light rune and lots of elixirs.

Pick your best troops (hopefully you will have three strong Paladins, a sage, assassin and sniper)

Firstly equip all three paladins with killing edges,
Your assassin with a killing edge
Your Sage with fimbulvter, elfire and thunder and psychic
Your Sniper with a killer bow and longbow
Your healer (preferably Priscilla) with a psychic
Athos with a mend or psychic (if you think he will need it)
Give your weakest paladin the light rune

Move Athos as far to the top left room as he will go (bring Nils if you want). Move your two best Paladins to the room below and make sure they have "killing edges" equipped then move all your troops away from Uhai's line of fire except for your Sage.
On Uhai's turn he will attack the sage and so will one of the archers (it depends on where you are standing).

They usually miss anyway. On your turn a druid, sage and Kenneth will have appeared in the top left room. Use Athos to attack the sage and Nils to refresh him and make him attack Kenneth.

Use anima magic because it is the most effective, (don’t worry about the druid) After killing Kenneth he receives a light magic book called Luna and after he kills the druid he receives a dark magic book called Gespenst, do not discard either of these.

Use your sage to kill the archer and have your assassin move in to attack Uhai, he can be finished with a sniper or another unit. Send your third Paladin (or cavalier if you don’t have one) to kill the final archer. (its going to be real hard to resist using Eliwood, Hector or Lyn’s new weapons but don’t unless they are quite strong, in Eliwood’s case equip him with a killing edge if you do want to use him) You can move your characters up the map a little if you want, (but not to close to the room above Uhai’s).
On the next turn Brendan Reed and a fighter will appear in the room below where Kenneth appeared.

Move Athos as close to the room above where Uhai appeared. Use Nils to refresh him and move again. (Make sure Nils is near the room where Brendan appeared). Move your Paladins to attack Brendan (use your strongest Paladin first because he is strong and may kill the weaker one). Move the paladin with the light rune as close to the top-right room as possible, move your assassin to the bottom of the map, now you can end your turn.
The fighter will use a bow to attack the weaker of the two Paladins but should not kill him. Marquess Lahus (Darin) will have appeared and also a general in the room above Uhai’s.

Move your paladin with the light rune to the top-right room to the room above darin’s and end your turn. Darin will try to attack but you will be out of the way. Sonia and Jerme will have appeared in the room below Brendan’s. Move the paladin with the light rune to the door of the top-right room if he’s not already there.

Use your archer to attack Sonia with a killer bow and Nils to refresh to let him attack again but make sure he is out of the way. Use your healer (not your sage) to heal if necessary.

Use you sage (not Athos) to attack darin, (he seems to do more damage than Athos). Continue attacking until Darin is dead and end your turn.
Jerme will attack your sniper with his runesword, (it has a range of two spaces) if not he will go for the assassin but will be too far away.
Lloyd and Linus will have appeared so have your Paladin use the light rune.

If Darin is not dead yet kill him and the general. Kill Jerme with the assassin if he’s not already dead and move the archer up towards Lloyd (don’t forget to use Nils to help him move). Have the healer stay in the middle of the map. Move Athos or a unit that can wield a hand axe or to the light rune and have him attack Linus, (Athos is much stronger) and have the sage (who will heal) close by.
Linus will attack but your unit (either Athos or the person with the hand axe) will counter. Move all units away from their door (you’ll see why)
Kill Linus and use the archer to attack Lloyd.

*you should have enough turns to kill Lloyd with the archer before the light rune wears away but as he is a swordmaster he is very agile and may avoid the arrows.

In a case of the light rune wearing away and Lloyd exiting the room, continue using the archer and surround him with your best paladins (wielding killer lances).

Now it's time for Nergal!!!

Make sure Jaffar is near the bottom of the stage, have a healer close by, (the middle of the map will be fine). Move your best troops so that they are close to Nergal, but still out of his range and have not moved up the corridor leading to him. The druids will attack but they shouldn’t kill you. Kill them whichever way you like. Three generals will appear at the bottom of the stage but Jaffar will defeat them. Once all units are dead you can kill Nergal. You must be careful because he is strong.

One trick is to equip Athos with elixirs and keep your two healers nearby. When it’s your turn use Nils to dance for him. Move Athos so he is near Nergal (within range to counter-attack) but do not attack. When he attacks, Athos will counter (he may do it twice). On your turn heal him with your healers or have him use an elixir. Repeat until he dies.

*THIS NEXT PART IS A MAJOR SPOLIER SO DO NOT READ UNTIL NERGAL DIES AND ALL THE TALKING IS OVER*
Ok then,
-----

When you have to defeat the fire dragon, do not move until all the sages, bishops etc. Have used all their long distance magic up because it would be a pain in the ass to die from a crummy bishop etc. (They usually attack Lyndis and Jaffar so heal them whenever)
To kill the dragon you must repeat what you did earlier to defeat Nergal. The dragon has a range of three spaces so your healers will not be able to stand next to Athos. Hopefully you will have two psychics, one for each healer.

Again, have Nils dance for Athos and move him two spaces away from the dragon and wait. (There’s a supposed trick to use the magic Luce that you receive after killing Kenneth to kill the dragon but I always used Aureole, it’s up to you.)

After the dragon attacks use an elixir or move him away and have your healers heal him.

On the next turn use Nils dance for him and move Athos two spaces away from the dragon and keep repeating the trick and that’s pretty much it, enjoy, hope this helped. It might take a few attempts but don’t give up.
