The Trials of Horse Training (2013)

Latest update by CMBF on Jul 3rd 2013

UPDATED AND COMPLETE AS OF 3 JULY 2013

A massive Mission broken up into four large stages, each of which contains four quests, and each stage being released and unlocked in successive weeks, The Trials of Horse Training joins the Mission that revolved around the Holiday Tree that dominated the Christmas Holidays back in December as that sort of challenging adventure!

The story here is simple enough: Your good mate Marie is having a spot of the difficult in training up a particularly rare and valuable horse of hers, and she believes that you will have a better go of it than she might.

As she tells you, the Horse in question is rare and beautiful one, and as temperamental as it is rare it seems... But that is where you come in, you Horse Whisperer you.

Just to ease your mind you will be pleased to know that in addition to the satisfaction of helping your mate and training up a rare horse, you also get some nice rewards out of the deal as a bonus - the very horse itself!

To sum it all up, once you have completed all of the quests in each of the four stages of the Mission you will receive the horse - which is a rare sort called Akhal-Teke - to add to your budding menagerie.

So to start with your farm must be at least Level 11 or above, and you must place the Training Stall project on your farm, which means setting aside a bit of room either in your animal pen or not - since the horse does not do any traveling outside of the Stall you can get away with placing it wherever you like.

Building the Training Stall

Prior to commencing the training you will need to construct the Stall, and to do that you will need the following resources:

  • Wood Railing x8 (Feed Post)
  • Wood Varnish x8 (Direct Request)
  • Stackable Stones x8 (Direct Request)

Once you have acquired all of the above resources with the assistance of your mates, you will then need to get three of them to help in the actual building of it. With that done, depending upon how much time has passed since the launching of the Mission, you may have more than one stage unlocked and ready to be completed already...

What follows next are the four stages of what is called the Decoration Missions - or perhaps sub-missions would be better as a description?

Each of the Sub-Missions consists of four (4) individual Quests, and as was previously stated, they are unlocked and made available over time - one Sub-Mission and four Quests per week of the main mission term.

They are as follows:

Quests for Week I - First Week of Horse Month

It seems that the quests for each sub-mission are tailor-made for all sorts of players in FV2 and not strictly one type or the other, being (as you may clearly see) heavily invested in diversity. This is good news indeed since the scheme that is unfolding appears to rely not upon any one specialization, but rather on a mixture of every aspect of game play...

Quest 1: Unrefined Accommodations

  • Harvest 5 Apple Trees
  • Feed 12 Adult Goats
  • Have 2 Aqua Mortis Fountains

Quest 2: Stalling on Cleaning

Quests for Week II - Second Week of Horse Month

Week 2 brings us perhaps a bit more direct request and feed post requirements than might have been expected, but there is still a fair bit of crafting and the opportunity to use up some of the obscure crafting resources that you have had knocking about your storage box all this time, no doubt wondering what you will do with them?

Quests for Week IV - Fourth Week of Horse Month

The final set of quests for this sub-mission were added on the evening of 3 July 2013, and the reward was changed from Wrangler's Boots (which was purely speculative on our part anyway) to the proper and officially displayed reward, which is "Mystery Gifts" which it seems number among a random selection.
