Counting Sheep (2013)

Introduced as the complimentary Mission Sequence (Quest Chain) under the title Counting Sheep, this Mission is connected to the new Prized Animal Structure called the Sheep Shack:

The Sheep Shack Prized Animal Structure

Restrictions: Requires Level 09 Farm to place.
Capacity: Up to 12 Prized Sheep of all types.
Bonus Feature: Regularly spawns Golden Fleece Crafting Resource.
Bonus Feature: Allows resident Prized Sheep to be fed using half the normal AFRU's.
Bonus Feature: Adds +25 to the Animal Feed Resource Unit Storage Cap.

This special event appears under the heading of Prized Animal Structure Event, and includes a total of eight (8) quests under the mission structure.

As is often the case with special events like those related to placement and building of Prized Animal Structures (which are all the more valuable in that any Prized Animal placed in such a structure has its number removed from the Farm Animal Population Cap) some of the quests under this mission require that the farmer obtain and use both Limited Time Crops, Feed Post Resources, and Direct-Request Resources.

The Counting Sheep Mission Quest Chain

Quest I: Weary Walter

• Plant 10 Savoy Cabbage
  
• Tend Wells 2 times
  
• Tend 3 Adult Sheep
  

One of the limited time and duration crops, Savoy Cabbage is only available for duration of the mission and quest timer associated with this mission series.

The reward for completing this quest is 400 Farm Coins and 20 XP.

Quest II: Synchronized Sheep

• Collect 5 Shepherd's Hooks (Feed)
  
• Harvest 15 Wheat
  
• Raise a Baby Sheep to Adulthood
  

The Shepherd's Hook is obtained by posting a request to your Facebook Wall Feed and is obtained when your friends and neighbors click on the associated link.

The reward for completing this quest is 400 Farm Coins and 20 XP.

Quest III: Bleary-Eyed Barbara

• Fertilize 15 Crops
  
• Craft 3 Felt Rolls
  
• Craft 1 Pickled Savoy Cabbage
  

Pickling Spices are a Limited Resource, and can only be obtained via the direct request to your friends and neighbors. You are only permitted a total of 12 Jars of Pickling Spices at any one time.

The reward for completing this quest is 400 Farm Coins and 20 XP.

Quest IV: Barbara's Best Brew

• Collect 5 Chamomile Teabags
  
• Harvest 15 Onions
  
• Harvest 5 Orange Trees
  

Chamomile Teabags are obtained via direct request to your friends and neighbors, and the Orange Tree Harvest requirement requires a total of x5 harvest actions, so if you are following the Rule of 4 and using Tree Groves, you may want to purchase and place a temporary extra Orange Tree in order to facilitate this requirement in a more timely fashion.

Quest V: Sleepless Marie

• Harvest 20 Savoy Cabbage
  
• Craft 4 Magenta Dye
  
• Craft 5 Orange Icings
  

You will be using your Craft Workshop to create the Magenta Dyes, but bear in mind that the creation of these requires a supply of empty Flasks, which can only be obtained via direct request to your friends and neighbors. As you only are allowed a maximum of x12 Flasks, you will want to request replacements for the ones that you use from your mates.

While you can sell the dyes you create for a tidy profit, you may find that retaining them as a resource makes more sense, as there will be quest in the future that will utilize them as an ingredient, and it always feels satisfying when you find you have already created a resource that you require for a quest, and thus have saved yourself time and money.

Quest VI: Sheepish Marie

• Tend the Sheep Shack
  
• Feed 5 Adult Sheep
  
• Craft 3 Felt Rolls
  

Completing this quest requires that you have placed and constructed the Sheep Shack (obviously) which is good as well since it is a source for the advanced crafts resources from your Sheep...

The reward for completing this quest is 400 Farm Coins and 20 XP.

Quest VII: Spinning Gold

• Collect 5 Sleep Masks (Feed)
  
• Craft 2 Pink Pig Toys
  
• Craft 4 Wool Padding
  

Remember those Magenta Dyes that we did not sell? Yes! Slap yourself on the back, shake your own hand, and rejoice that you have a resource you needed without having to make any extra effort in the making of it!

Quest VIII: Gold Mine

• Tend Your Sheep Shack 2 Times
  
• Craft 5 Pickled Savoy Cabbages
  
• Craft 1 Zig Rug (not a Zag Rug)
  

Completing this final quest in the mission may be the first time you legitimately used the Golden Fleece crafts resource, which you need to use to craft the Golden Thread that is required to make the rug. Considering the number of Golden Fleece that are required for this quest you will want to make an effort to stock up on them as early as you can in the progression of this quest chain.
