Special Events in FV2

Latest update by CMBF on Jul 1st 2013
The original Farmville established the practice of hosting special, theme-based events, offering players the opportunity to immerse themselves in events based upon real-world activities or connected to special advertising.

To give an idea of the range of events peruse this list of past Farmville Special Events:

4th Birthday Event (May/June 2013) An event to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Farmville, with the focus of the celebration being to gift players with a new gift item each day for 30 days.

4th of July Event (July 2010) A typical example of events that celebrate non-secular holidays in Western culture such as the 4th of July (US Independence Day), Thanksgiving, and Christmas. As the 4th of July holiday includes fireworks as an obvious theme, the Farmville event includes a selection of special Firework objects that can be used in the game to celebrate.

7-Eleven based Special Events (Various Dates) The Wizards at Zynga seem to be fans of the ubiquitous convenience store chain - either that or maybe the people at 7-Eleven are fans of Farmville, as the two seem to share a regular relationship based upon the variety of advertising-linked events and give-aways that have appeared over the years. Some of the special items and resources that have appeared in the game include the Goji Berry, the very unique (and large) 7-Eleven Water Tower, and water-themed recreation objects like the “Big Splash” and “Fun Slide” water-based structures.

1950 Event (April 2013) An event that celebrates 1950's pop-culture that included the release of theme-based animals like the Teen Angel Pegacorn, Sack Hop Mare, and Diner Duck. The pundits in the Farmville community speculated widely that the event also celebrates the diversity of age ranges among fans of the games.

Alice in Wonderland (March 2010) A movie tie-in event that celebrates Director and Writer Tim Burton's interpretation of Alice in Wonderland in film, this event featured new Farm Animals including the Invisible (Cheshire) Cat, and a Caterpillar decoration complete with Hookah!

Anti-V-Day Event (February 2012) A tongue-in-cheek event that celebrates the Not Celebrating of Valentines Day, which was nicely illustrated by a Mission and Quest Series that is informally known as the Anti-Cupid Quests, featuring quest titles like Love Is In the Air and a rather drawn-out series about finding love with representative titles that are themselves an in-joke like Cupid Love, Like Fish in a Barrel, and It's a Trap.

International Children Day (May/June 2010) A playground-themed event that featured objects one might find on the typical pre-school and Kindergarten playground such as a Merry-Go-Round, Bouncing Duck, and Fun Swing Set - this special event celebrates a real-world holiday that is observed by a wide range of nations and cultures, with its origin being the holiday of the same name that was first proclaimed and established in 1925 by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children held in Geneva, Switzerland.

In Summary

The very brief list above should provide you with insight into the nature and pattern of special events in the games, but considering that there are well over a hundred such unique events you will get the idea.

In view of the intentional observance of the basic themes and event structures in Farmville 2 as it follows the original Farmville, it seems to be a reasonable presumption that the development team for FV2 will maintain the established traditions, and that we can expect to see a similar and vast list of that sort of variety of special events in Farmville 2, which is great news for fans of the games :)

If you are curious about the range and intensity of the special events in the original game, a more complete list can be found on the Farmville Wiki (just point your magic Interwebs Interface Device at the URL http://farmville.wikia.com/wiki/Event to learn more) but be sure to lay in the minimal selection of supplies helpful for lengthy browsing sessions such as tea and biscuits so that you can undertake your perusals in some measure of reasonable comfort. Just saying...

The pages that appear under this landing page address in some detail many of the special events for Farmville2, though the focus for these pages is intended to be a helpful set of min-guides rather than an after-the-fact listing... Enjoy!
