Top 10 Pokemon that Could Replace Pikachu as the Face of the Franchise

#8 - Lucario

Just about any Pokemon who had their own movie and storyline made after them has enough popularity and pizzaz to be the face of the Pokemon Franchise, and Lucario is no different. Lucario is one cool Pokemon, to put things lightly. It has an AMAZING design that goes perfectly with its ability to read auras. It also has some pretty darn good statistics AND a Mega Evolution, which would help any trainer who has one ENORMOUSLY. It's MUCH, MUCH better than Pikachu, which could be seen as a positive or negative depending on what side of the fence you are looking from.

Lucario could easily become the face by be attained by a new character introduced to the series that would eventually become the main character. We don't think it's too realistic for Ash to obtain a Riolu or Lucario and it replacing Pikachu, but that could always happen. At the bare minimum, Riolu/Lucario could share the role with Pikachu and become one good tag team together. But like we said, we think it would most likely happen with a new trainer.

This trainer could be a lot like Riley from the Fourth Generation Pokemon Games, or it could just be a kid that Lucario's aura matches up with (kind of like what happened in Pokemon X and Y with the Lucario you obtain). Lucario would ease the pain of losing both Ash and Pikachu a bit, which it what would need to happen if such thing actually does place in the company.

And like earlier mentioned, Lucario is a better Pokemon statistically than Pikachu. This could this new trainer go far, and the creators wouldn't even have to let Lucario Mega Evolve. People love to see some soft of challenge for a character to face, and even though Lucario is WAY better than Pikachu, it still isn't the best Pokemon. This would allow this theme to continue on in the series, and you want to keep things as normal as possible with the lose of Ash AND Pikachu.

#7 - Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff had some serious fame in the original Pokemon Anime Series, and we here at SuperCheats don't know for the life of us why the Pokemon Creatures went away from it. It was also nice to see Jigglypuff enter the episode and eventually make everyone falling asleep with its song, even though we know it never meant to. It was always a good way to end an episode that needed a little help finishing, especially since Jigglypuff would draw faces on everyone who didn't listen to its song without falling asleep (something that could never be done). It would be nice to bring back this Jigglypuff, giving a nice nostalgic flare back to the series.

It would take a lot to actually accomplish this though, as Jigglypuff has been absent from the series - at least as a character - for over a decade now. They could always just throw it back in the mix without explaining anything, even though that would be pretty unrealistic. Or at least that's what older fan would initially think... Try to remember that Ash hasn't aged AT ALL over the approaching twenty years of Pokemon, so why can't the same be true for Jigglypuff? If the rule applies to Ash, then it should to everyone else.

Now they're are a couple Pokemon on this list who we don't really think could take Pikachu's role away it, but instead could SHARE the role with Pikachu; and Jigglypuff is one of the perfect candidates for this. It would also allow Ash to remain the Main Character of the series, justing catching the Jigglypuff that he and Pikachu once crossed paths with. After catching it, Jigglypuff could become a lot like what Aipom was, constantly jockeying for position with Pikachu. Just about everything is there for this scenario to be in play, all they need is to bring Jigglypuff back.
