Top 10 Pokemon that Could Replace Pikachu as the Face of the Franchise

#6 - Rayquaza

Now we think it would be INCREDIBLY cool for Rayquaza or any other legend (and there is another to make our list) to become the face of the franchise, but we just don't know if something like that will ever be possible. Rayquaza, like most Legendary Pokemon, are among the most popular Pokemon in existence. They have AWESOME statistics, and they usually are given some pretty STELLAR design to accompany these type of stats. But unlike some of these other Legendary Pokemon, Rayquaza also has a Mega Evolution, further boosting its AWESOMENESS.

But in order to become the face of the Pokemon Franchise, you have to play some sort of consistent role in the Anime Series. Just look at Pikachu; it has become the face of the company because it has had the opportunity to be the lead Pokemon in the Anime Series for over FIFTEEN YEARS. So it's safe to assume any of the Pokemon of this list would have to become the new lead Pokemon of whatever the main character is in the Anime Series... And we just don't know if Rayquaza can be THAT sort of Pokemon...

Legendary Pokemon are among the strongest - especially Rayquaza and Mega Rayquaza - AND rarest creatures in the World of Pokemon, and it would just be extremely difficult to keep things fresh in the Anime Series with them. For one, how in the world did this trainer catch Rayquaza? Really only Pokemon Masters can catch and control the mighty power of a Legendary Pokemon, so how can you make it realistic for a ten year old catching one OR how can you keep it fresh if a grown Pokemon Master catches one? And if a new, ten year old trainer did somehow befriend / catch one, how can the creatures make it so this trainer doesn't just win all the time? One of the best things about Pikachu and Ash as a team is that they're a HUGE underdog, and that keeps things interesting in battling AND realistic when he loses.

#5 - Eevee

When it comes to this selection, well, we're sure many fans reading this would want to see Eevee ranked higher than this. And we get it, we really do. Eevee has to be one of the most popular Pokemon in existence, mainly in part to its many different Eeveelutions. It's also extremely cute, and we all know that helps it causes.

But if it was enough to one day do so, we think it's most realistic that a new trainer other than Ash would become the main character of the series. We're not too keen on replacing Ash and having that Yu-Gi-Oh type of sequel (since it all went downhill after that), but we're trying to be realistic. It's not like they can just up and get rid of Ash's Pikachu and replace it with an Eevee, unless of course they do decide to ultimately have Ash's Pikachu pass away. Now we don't think that will EVER HAPPEN; it's just really the only way for Ash to have Eevee instead of Pikachu (since Pikachu would never leave Ash or he it). So a new character would be the route to go, and probably the best option in regards to changing up things focused around Eevee. And Eevee is a great option for it, as it can evolve into a number of different Pokemon (if they want to do that) AND has extreme cuteness (like Pikachu).
